Thread: smuggler /bh combo

Ive been testing this for the past two days and if things stay as they are this is an awesome combination


the templates ive tried are Master Smuggler, Master bounty hunter, Scout 4010 and Pistoleer 0040


this gives high offense plus a ranged intimidate



and Master Smuggler, Master Bounty hunter ,Scout 4010 and Pistoleer 0004


you lose the ranged intimidate but gain an extra 30 to ranged and melee defenses




so we have concussion shot, panic shot, intimidate shot , then use critical shot which hits for about 1275 and if things go bad there last ditch and finally feign death

I'll be going MBH/MSmuggler post-CU for the content it provides. I'm still working on what to stick my last skill points in, but leaning towards some Commando instead of Pistoleer. While the ranged intimidate would be nice, or the extra root from Stoping Shot, I think I am leaning more towards the grenade line of Commando. In addition to the added defenses, I can root the target, and toss a few 'nades on em for states and DoTs. Might come in handy for damaging multiple opponents as well, since they are an area-of-effect weapon. Haven't tested any large-scale PvP yet, but it worked pretty good in one-on-one duels so far.

MBH/MS is a good combo, I was messing with it earlier. The problem is where to stick the 23 left over skill points. Personally, I'll probably put them into the FS Range Acc, Ranged Spd, and Ranged Def, Melee Def. Then that would still leave 7 points, not sure where to put those yet, though.

Now the transformation is complete. I AM going to go MS/MBH.


I have so many reasons it's not even funny. Mostly though, it was because as MS/MC I didn't have thespecials to push those hardcore weapons to the damage potential they deserved.


I personally feel (I said PERSONALLY) that taking Pistols and Smuggler after the CU is kinda like going to the prom with your sister- It's just pointless. Therefore I will throw my remaining points into Commando for it's damage inducing- DoT throwing abilities.


My weapon of choice will be the LBC- That's right. The Heavy hitting- chance of burning- vehicle stopping- Lightning Beam Cannon.

I knew an 'uber' template would pop out of this even before CU Live. You do know that anyone that wants to be competitive is going to go MS/MBH now? So much for diversity, lol.


Even I may have to sucumb to the 'dark side' this time.I've tried out a few combos and MS/MP is just too weak to even consider past the fact that it is just so 'right'. The Commando adds the range we're missing and the BH is a nice set of specials.


Damn! I so love my DE10 and DX2s!


I'm really TRYING to resist but after some time on test with MS/MBH I'm not liking going back to "taking my sister to the prom", lol, *cry*.


I think I'll head out to China for a few days and see what's up with all this when I get back. Maybe SOE will see what's going on here and pre-nerf this killer combo and I can feel comfy with MS/MP again.

Don't forget adding master Bounty Hunter also givesyou access to a nice range of Carbine you can use smuggler specials with

I don't see it that way. I've gotten my @ss handed to me several times now, none of which were by an MBH.


contrary to popular belief, the road to cu dominance is NOT MBH like people think, but defense stacking, just like before seriously I thought that wasn't supposed to matter, but someone with 260 (which is apparently possible) loses half the Health in a fight than the guy with the MS/MBH template does, even if they're dealing the same basic DPS.


Another scary template is any one involving doc and carbineer. add some damage shots to it and it's pretty tough to beat. especially if you get as much defense as possible in there.


Fact is, there are definitely better things to base your pvp template off than MBH, and I'm of the opinion that most professions are still like smuggler is, 80% of the specials aren't doign what they're supposed to. BH does not have this problem, there specials mostly seem to be working.


And in a group battle, it really doesnt matter what prof you are, long as you can hit them with something.


MS/MBH is popular, IMO, not because of it's dominance in combat (though it does do a good job), but because of A. the content provided by the profs, and B. The fact that you can wield pistols AND carbines very effectively. I like the variety and diversity the template brings to the table. But if I wanted to absolutely win on every occasion, there's better templates out there.

well First off im a smuggler so im not looking for an uber pvp template


im just looking at the options to "enhance" my smuggler template and give me the best offense and defense i can build around being a smuggler


im looking at other options i have tried Master pistoleer Master smuggler and bh 0040 but it seems to be a weaker template


also tried master tk master brawler master smuggler but i didnt like it at all


as long as we dont lose sight of the fact we are Smugglers i dont see a problem


i will carry on looking at different setups but for now the smuggler bh pistol 0040 seems good for me

Lol thats a great way of putting it. There is indeed much redundancy between smuggler and pistoleer.


I've personally been having the most success with Smuggler/Rifleman, but I've yet to try frying people with an LLC lol. I'd also suspect that rooting someone and running out 64 meters and nuking them might be nerfed, lol.


And commando... I just don't get it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what specials work best with it? And do the DoTs tick at a percentage of the original damage, or what?

Good luck on finding good bomb droids able to survive several hits against a jedi =)
