I was thinking the other day and I came up with this idea for feign death that would make it quite useful in PvP. It would also be very good to have if we ever get player BHs after us.
The actual trick is changing it from feign death to "feign incapacitation". It can only be used when you're low on HAM (so no feigning when you have almost 90% of your HAM left), and it has about a 60% success rate. If it succeeds, it will appear to everyone that you are incapped, when you're actually playing dead. If it fails, you actually become incapped.
Now the advantage this provides is that you can launch one short-range attack while in this state. Think of it as an unarmed variation of Low Blow.
Example: Mr. Bounty Hunter goes to his terminal and sees that a bounty has been placed on Mr. Smuggler. He doesn't know why, nor does he care. He takes the mission and seeks out this Smuggler. They fight, and since the Smuggler isn't quite a match for the Bounty Hunter, the Smuggler is losing. So, when he's about to be incapped, he does his feign incap skill and it succeeds. Our Bounty Hunter congratulates himself on a job well done, and walks up to give the death blow. When he gets within range, but before he can db our Smuggler, the Smuggler kicks him in the crotch. This delays the Bounty Hunter enough for the Smuggler to get up and start running.
The Smuggler can be death blown if he isn't fast enough in launching his attack. Also, the attack can miss, and combat is re-engaged.
So, what do you guys think?

cool idea!!!
i had a very similar idea i posted last week or so. but i think the attack shouldn't be limited toUnarmed.
if we're holding our pistol when we feign death we should attack with our pistol.
check out my idea for a change to Feign Death, which would make this counter DB attack part of the FD move

not a bad idea, but....
most serious pvpers have a DB macro running, or at least have it setup as a hotkey... so... unless it's someone that dosn't pvp much, you'd get dbed every time.. not to mention that if they did PC Smuggler bonties... that would only work once... then it would find its way to the BH board.... then I don't think anyone would fall for it... it always span DB when you walk up to the smuggler....,..
Now, to bad it didn't make you look like a corpse to the other player.. and you had to use the radial DB option... that would be kinda cool

That's why I made it only a 60% chance of succeeding and why it can only be used when you're about to be incapped. That way the BH doesn't know if the smuggler is really down or only faking.
Of course the numbers are up for modification, but that would take someone more computer-savvy than I. Wes, what do you think about this idea?

The problem with that idea is that a player doesn't appear as a corpse until another player or MOB performs the death blow. So, if you're fighting someone and all of a sudden they fall down and look like a corpse, you're going to know that they're faking. With a "feign incap" skill, our opponents won't know if we're faking or really incapped.

Now I know that we're all busy doing constructive stuff like blasting SOE and the devs for the CU, but I would kinda like it if our corr would take a look at this proposal and say if it has merit or not. Anyone else is free to as well. After that you can go back to the much more constructive dev-bashing.
