Thread: I hate you Smugglers for nerfing my Jedi.
I'm a Jedi now. Here I am a Jedi, supposedly 1.5 times a normal prof, only I'm not even equal. Why you ask? Because of smugglers. Yeah, you dirty dirty smugglers ruined what could otherwise have been a perfectly Uber Leet super Jedi.
Allow me to explain.
Pre Cu I was fine. I'd attempted the old triple long ago. I did my pistols pre-req and for some reason it felt like a brutal grind (how little I knew) whereas grinding the unarmed was a ball. So I went with TKM first sprinkling in what Smuggler training I could (mostly slicing and spices).
That was when I was stunned to find out there was no smuggling for smugglers... and that every time I wanted to go hunt I'd have to get someone to buff me. So long story... er... wrapped up I ended as a Doc/TK and, well I'd like to say I never looked back but dropping smuggler killed me and I spent the rest of my pre CU time looking back. I just couldn't give up self buffing and I'd fallen in love with TK as well (A girl likes to get her hands bloody.) but I could always hear that Smuggler prof calling to me, as non-actual-smugglery as it was.
Then one day the CU hits and amidst the cries of doom there was this little thing called /respec. I only missed a SINGLE respec opportunity during the initial /respec. One. I tried out every single prof combo I could, even the ones I wasn't that serious about. But the very FIRST respec went straight to Smuggler. HAD to see what it was actually like after all this time... and it was clear from about half an hour of play that Doc was no longer the prof for me. So TKM/Msmuggler with a spattering of pistols thrown in.
Mmmmm. Smuggler. That first respec I had no clue how to use the new specials and was BRUTALIZED by pretty much everything I ran across, even low level stuff. But I reveled in every little PVE spanking I got. I pure and plain loved being a smuggler. I couldn't smuggle. I could barely get my standard FWG to clear its holster. And I loved it.
Smuggler specials were awful. I mean AWFUL. I was using reckless shot constantly alternating it with low blow cause the description sounded good. I got into trouble in some fights (dropped to 75% health
) and tried to /lastditch. Heh. Spent several minutes blinking at the results of that one. And I loved it.On one of my later respecs I tried BH/Smuggler on a whim. Seemed like kind of a stupid combination on the surface (Two hybrid profs in one template? What a waste.) Turns out it was a very fun and powerful template since at that point I knew my specials (and the specials of pretty much every combat prof for that matter). It also turned out that those FS branches I'd worked as hard as I could on (I'm not normally good at 'grinding') quickly filled up due to the peculiarities of MBH/Smuggler/Commando being the premium FS grinding prof.
So...
Mel killed...
Trials done...
Time to pick a template. Easy decision really. IS there another template besides MLS/MDef/Heal3xxx/Enhancerxxx2?

But... but... I hear the force costs are way too high and the damage is too low. Powers is totally gimped. MLS is the way to go.

Hey! I never said that! Fine! I'll go with Mpowers/Mdef/Heal3xxx/Enhancerxxx2 okay? Just don't be spreading those rumors about me wanting to be effective rather than stylish in combat!

Er... well you do just kind of stand there. Plus you get hit a lot, whereas with a mezz you are tanking without even having to deal with the consequences.

And that is it.
I blame all smugglers for being cool enough to stick with their auto nerfed profession for inspiring me to go ahead with this template.
I blame all smugglers for demonstrating time and time again that its not the template its the person behind it.
I blame the smugglers I’ve met who taught me to learn my specials. Taught me so well I’ll probably make this stupid template viable.
I blame all smugglers who have so much freakin style and panache that it made me look for that in a Jedi template.
But mostly I blame smugglers for putting that vile little voice into my head that kept me from being the ultra LS/Def I could have been.
I’ll see you all in hell. (I’ll be the non saber wielding Jedi girl with lightning on her fingertips, packs of spice in my backpack I’ll be trying to get past security and the Master Smuggler title in my bio.)
Yes, I have FD envy and I'll admit that I'm one of those working on their Smuggler grind and soon I'll have my own Smuggler just like everyone else here.

Wraith's mad because our noble/insane/pathetic devotion to the smuggling profession has given her a crisis of conscience vis. her original plans for uber Jedihood, swaying her towards a much cooler, sexier, dare I say "smuggleresque" template
In a horrible twist of fate, now I'M starting to think about how cool it would be to run as a clownshoes template jedi.
The delay in the outfitting of your Belbullab can be easily explained by the fact I plan on making it a donation so as not to too greatly impinge on the finances of our fair mayor. That building it won't make me any actual money causes me, unfortunately, to procrastinate on it even more than I do with the orders that will add to my bank account.

If I could stand going through the grind again something combining Smuggler and Powers x4xx. Be hard to get enough force in to justify it though.
Course it would also be fun to have BH coming at you from two directions and a hundred different reasons. Wonder if a template like that would lose xp for a BH DB on a failed Smuggler mission based BH mission. Interesting stuff. FD and Cloak in the same template just sound like a ton of fun to me though. Squeeze in the healing line, Force Run and Channel to keep the whole thing running and you have yourself quite the swiss army knife.
Never get kited as a pistol user again. The ultimate template for choosing which battles you fight. Sadly you'd need it cause the choice would almost always be to pass.
I knew i should have ignored that message in the doc forum saying i should come here.
i've been toying with the idea of master powers/master enhancer as a jedi template for some time (if i actually do the transition to a jedi at any rate... still toying with that too) and now you've gone and sold me on it!
and i already knew my alt would be (again, should i actually transfer to being a jedi) a smuggler. fie on you i say!
oh, and tomo is totally the best shipwright out there. costly, but worth it. which reminds me, i need to hit his place up for a high end reactor sometime.
*makes some notes reminding himself to buy reactors or some such thing*
now i have to blame smuggler... and wraith of course, for gimping out the jedi i haven't even made yet! it's all your fault!

Does anyone else find it a bit disturbing that they wouldn't allow disguises (talking pre-beta forums here) to be part of the game for part of the GCW/espionage or, *gasp*, Smuggling, but that now Jedi can go one better and be entirely invisible?
