I just finished the long Unarmed IV grind and am now a Novice Smuggler. I'm happy to finally be a part of this profession. First thing I did was buy some molc. clamps and I've sliced two containers so far. I have to go to work now, but I am getting back on/in-game around 10:00 est. I've read the FAQ and I think I'm pretty much ready to start down the path towards Master Smuggler. Any advice from personal experiances that are not covered in the FAQs that you have, I would be very appreciate to hear.

My advice, never buy meat out of the back of someone's truck.

or...always tell people that slicing is random.

Hello there, welcome aboard.

Dantoone gonna be your home for the next few weeks, harvest all the meat and hide from your journey of leveling up Underworld and Dirty Fighting, you will use this meat and hides with cheap metal to make shadow paw when you grind that spice tree. As for container, try to go to dant mining outpost and scream on the top of your lung, eventually there will be people asking to slice for them. After Slicing, buy bucnh of survival knives (crates) and WUK from weapon smith and slice until you get master.

Good luck my friend, and again welcome to the coolest yet among the most ignore profession of the Star War Galaxy

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I know its the profession that needs a revamp bad and all, but when I was little I always used to play Han Solo, not play Luke Skywalker when my friends and I would play Star wars on the playground. I knew from Day 1 this would be the profession I went into in the game. Thanks for the advice about harvesting the meat. I hadn't thought about doing that. My one question is where do I keep it? I seem to be running out of room to stire stuff. My inventory is practicaly full. I have a backback and a cargo pocket, but i'm still stretched for room. Any suggestions? Thanks again for the welcome!

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

Maybe I am overlooking them on the bazzar, but I couldn't find containers of anything to slice to buy. I've been asking people at shuttle/star ports if they need containers sliced open, but so far no one has. Thanks for the tips on storage!

As with most items, it's best to do a galaxy wide search, and as well the containers are in the misc category under generic item.

Best of luck to ya.

Welcome.

Being a smuggler isn't all that bad, i really enjoy it. Don't let all the negative feedback you'll find in 90% of this forum get to you. Every Job has problems in SWG.

Slicing containers is probably the hardest xp to get. I do believe its the only xp you get from loot in the game. I went to Coronet Starport and spammed "slicing containers for free please send tell, i'm making spice". While i waited i used all those hides meats and bones i saved up from harvesting to make spice. Spice took me a couple hours to get up to spice 4. Theres was no xp cap.

Getting the containers took me a good day on a weekend to get all 20. Do your best not to buy them. I did only because on my first slice of my own container i found a single force crystal when they were worth something, so i had plenty of cash.

If your in a guild ask them to save all the newb wepons for you like the CDEF's to get you through the rest of the slicing tree. Some Smuggs buy crates of survival knives and go that route as well.

Welcome and congrats

For containers just wait outside any big city like coronet and shoot the npc's when they spawn. Chunkers or Meatlumps drop a fair bit, sojust camp yourself there for a while, and any vendor selling loot normally has containers for sale. For different types of meat, if you're doing quenkers on dant for xp, you'll just have one single batch of wild meat by the time you've killed a load of them, and a lot of pistol xp.

I rarely spammed for containers, most people did a search for a novice smuggler and found me, so I'd say just leave your title on and shoot npc's for LC's. A good spot is Moenia just otuside the cantina, it never stops spawning. If you've already done the tech tree of Pistoleer I'd say do jantas using fanshot so you get pistol xp,a better chance of loot and good money. Once you can slice the terminals in a town with an improved job market, you'll make great money.

I didn't rush the grind and only sliced when I needed to do missions for pistol xp. I crafted my own weapons for slicing until I got slicing 4, then i got a couple of crates of survival knives. After I sliced a few, I got a bunch of tells from people in Coronet who had LC's, in 30 minutes 3 people gave me about 18 containers to open.
