Thread: Anyone like this idea? Player ran bounties and missions.

My idea is pretty simple. It is mainly a BH/Smuggler idea. Anyway here goes:

This system is a player ran mission system. In this system one player runs the risk of losing XP if they are killed by a BH or they can gain money and XP by completing a mission. Similar to that of a Jedi hunting mission. Esentially you have Player A, which is a rich player with a good deal of money. This player is wanting a particular item(s). For the sake of argument we will call it a "Widget". This widget is either going to be some sort of looted or quest driven item that any player can find in the game.

Player A(rich guy that wants a widget) goes to a "Player Ran Terminal" and puts up a mission for 200k to complete the mission and bring back a widget.

Player B(the smuggler) goes to a terminal and finds Player A's mission. At this point player B accepts the mission. Half of the mission payout is given up front to player B. Player B now has 100k of the 200k and has a certain amount of time to finish it and bring back Player A's widget.

From this point a few scenarios can occur.

1a) Player B goes out and finds a widget by looting it off of some critters he kills or finds it as part of a quest. At this point he brings the widget back to a player terminal and receives his extra 100k after he drops off the widget. Player A can come by any time and pick up this item now.

1b) The mission time expires and Player A places a bounty on player B for 100k(or however much they want to give up). Player B finds the widget while he is being hunted and delivers it to the terms. This will remove his mission from the BH terms.

2c) The mission time expires and Player A places a bounty on player B for 100k(or however much they want to give up). Player B is killed by a BH and this will remove the mission form the BH terms. Player B loses some XP just like how the Jedi system works.

2d) Player B cannot find the widget so he pays the money back to the Player Terms with interest and Player A must find someone else to do his dirty work.

2e) The mission time expires and Player A places a bounty on player B for 100k(or however much they want to give up). Player B manages to elude BH's for a 3 week period and is removed from the BH terms.

If player B is at all killed during a mission, they will lose a certain set amount of XP. Also to ensure that players do not constantly rip others off, if you do fail a mission and are placed on the BH terms(three week period), you cannot take another mission from the Player Mission Terminals until you either complete the mission, are killed by a BH, pay off the debt with interest or you just manage to survive the 3 week period you are being hunted. After this you can then take another mission.

This system doesnt nessesarily have to be with smugglers but they were the first "delivery" type profession that came to mind and that is why I posted this here. Also this would probably help inter-game trade with players (specifically for rare and expensive items). Also since a player runs the risk of losing XP if they are killed by a BH, I think it would help eliminate the players which would just try to rip others off.

Some of the rules could be changed when posting a mission. Allow the poster of the mission to specify the payback interest rate(if the mission is not completed), time allowed to find the item, how much money if any that they would post up front and, a description and possible clues as to where to find the item, and last but not least the payment amount.

This really wouldnt have to be a "smuggler only" mission system since the items that could be posted could literally be anything.

Any comments or additional ideas?

You haven't been around here (Smuggler's Forum) much have you?

Or did you perhaps read the smuggling content thread on In Concept before they took it down?

Player smuggling missions with player bounties have been discussed ad nauseum 'till blood has run freely from all our orafices yet SOE doesn't apparently notice.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Nope Im not a smuggler so I never come in here. It sounds like this idea is already on the table then. I have been wanting this type of system for a while now. I hope SOE eventually tries to do something with it.

can you say nerfing?

I knew you could.

The reason everything gets nerfed in this game is because some 9 year old (or an adult that acts like one) finds a way to ruin someone elsesfun.

This might work if it didn't involve other players, Now, if you could do space deliver missions for iconic npc's tha would be cool. But this is all a moot point. Smugglers are just Enchanters now.

----edit----

my keyboard got drunk and I had to switch it out......wow, I really screwed the spelling in that one.
