Thread: Roleplaying the Triple Master

Technically, the triple master is a very solid template. The one thing that's bothering me is that the Teras Kasi profession really doesn't fit a Smuggler. Are there any roleplaying triple masters out there who found a way to live with meditation?

I like to think Ronin. That fallen servant that has to live by his wits and his sword, although i don't have a sword... but i'm kinda witty! In times of crisis (like a civil war) people of conscience would take up arms or use their skills to assist the side that they favour. This would make my toon a sort of monk / rogue. When i don't have the MS tag up to get slicing business i use the rogue tag, seems to fit my character quite well.

Not a triple master, but I did take some TKA in addition to Pistoleer. I look at it this way from a RP standpoint: Smugglers are an impulsive lot, given to half-baked ideas and wild plans sometimes. With some TKA training comes some discipline, though, and somtimes I'll stop and think things through. Sometimes. Other times I'll try to hawk some muon gold to an Imperial Colonel, if the money seems good enough.

I take the views that as a Smuggler I need to:

Fly (working on, but must wait for JtL)

Shoot (Master pistoleer becomes a requirement to stand a chance)
fist-fight (So I must get TKA)

To make myself the best Smuggler possible, these skills become a requirement. If I were to take the crime-lord approach (like Ecad) then they would not be so important...but I am an in-the-gutter type of Smuggler.

ahhhh, I've been wondering when someone would make a post such as this. I LOVE RPing my triple master. For me it is more of a split personality thing. After years of running spice and leading a less then lawful trade Joras' life had become empty. It was then that he met a strage man on a delivery run. The man was a Teris Kasi Master, and seeing that Joras was needing something more took him on as an apprentice. After years of meditation and practice Joras left and while he still smuggles (I know, I can be hopefull at times) he uses TK to clear his mind and soul. Hope this makes sence

I'm of the same train of thought. Some Smugglers aspire to be leaders of a crime syndicate. Not me I am a back alley smuggler and always will be, I'll be the one to cheat the crime lord out of that big payoff and have a BH after me for the rest of my life. Always looking towards the next big money so I can eventually retire with a nice little mansion on Naboo somewhere. But I agree with you, gotta be able to fly, handle yourself in a firefight and always be able to make it out of a cantina brawl with you reputation intact.

Rather simple really (although Geevo summed it up even simpler I believe )

It depends on how you want the character to have started out. Was he/she a TK who eventually started running contraband for the money, or a Smuggler who found with a little discipline they could defend themselves extremely well?

Personally I chose the route of a Smuggler who has an honorable streak and felt some discipline was needed in life, and who realized the monetary gains from being able to really fight if need be was well worth it.

I am a Master Fencer and Master Smuggler. I RP a cocky and proud scoundrel who can normally be found slicing into a player city's banking terminals. He does have aspirations tocontrol his own information network, but (though he is Zabrak) cant stay focussed on that goal.

I had TKA, but decided it didnt fit me much and decided to pick up a few pistol skills instead. I always envisioned my toon as a Space Pirate...hence the sword....so when JTL rolls around.........that'll probably be the height of my Smuggler/RP experience

I have a very strong RP concept for my character that is a TKM/Master Smuggler, especially since I RP as a Rebel. I have an abiding hatred for the empire, and I take on a sort of vigilante tack. I see the TKM skills as my character being the master of mind and body, and being able to fight very effectively. One doesn't have to be entirely reckless or impulsive to be a Smuggler. Being in tune with your abilities, and being able to fight effectively will aid you in being able to operate just under the law. Especially since in the RP aspect of my character's motivation, any killing or law breaking done is ultimately done for a good cause. Spice can be used responsibly in order to heighten your body's abilities, and slicing and smuggling are aiding your cause by making their weapons and armor more effective -- again taking the means necessary to be as effective as possible, and sometimes when you're in the underdog position, you have to fight a little dirty for the cause, for the ultimate good.
If I try to use my hand-to-hand abilities to take out a troublesome Stormtrooper, and they run away, I will have no qualms about shooting him in the groin, to catch up to him and go back to finishing the job.

Think about Chinese Triads. In movies (I don't know any Triad members in real life. Thank God.) they commonly use Kung Fu and wield handguns. And they are criminals. I know Smugglers aren't "those" kind of criminals, but I can make the association.

However, I think of my character as ex-martial artist who cast aside his warrior past for a more profitable way of life. Doesn't mean he's not willing to bust out some flying kicks here and there when he gets in too deep. He's at peace with himself. A laid back, proverb-spouting gunslinger looking out for himself.
