Basiclly instead of making spice youget it from crime lords and sell itto players. Basically Spice will be illegal like crazy illegal. Just having makes you a target for every Imperial/security force in the region. Put it in a vender and the vendor gets destroyed and you get fined. A crime lord say jabba (or nym) gives you a shipment of neuron pixie (only this stuff won't suck) Based on your level of skill you get a your choice of spice. All spice should work great but some are better than others. You deliver the spice to where ever your suppose to take it. (this should always take awhile)Once delivery is complete you get a very small portion of the spice as your cut. This makes spice rare like it should be and drives the price up. If you die you lose your spice and your trouble begins. Jabba's pissed so he warnes you. Do it again and jabba charges you a fee you must pay in a set time period or every bounty hunter in the game will know your name. The type of spice lost and the amount lost will determine the price on your head and howlong you stayed bountied. I also feel that if you die in pvp the one who killed you can loot your corpse. If your insured thats fine you get your items back but if your not than yourSOL because if another player killed you he should reap the rewards.

It's an interesting idea because it actually contains smuggling. I've just had a dislike for spice since day 1. I don't see Smugglers as drug dealers. The entire spice line has always seemed like a waste to me. And if they revamp spice in any way, it will result in a nerf to chef. I've never wanted my profession to become better while making another one worse (by me having a better product that does the same as someone elses). I like the smuggling of illegal contraband idea, just not the spice.

My eyes hurt. A big blue baby font doesn't make your post more important than others.
At any rate, I like your idea of smuggling. I too believe that spices are not something a smuggler makes, but one of the things he transports. There is one catch though:if the developers make our spices competitive with chef food and drinks, it will be fun to run these missions the first few times, but after that it's just a tedious grind to get more. I'd rather have spices removed from the profession altogether and get a real useful branch instead: special ship commands or certifications for example.

take the spice tree and flip it into the underworld tree...the higher lvl of underworld lets you smuggle those types of spices and anything lower. smugglers "SMUGGLE", we're not meth lab cooks

Done. I like it, but there are more similar, but more well formed ideas floating around.
