Thread: Smuggler Template? ;)
Master smuggler (doh!)
Master swordsman (As of now, I really like bashing heads with large weapons)
Pistoleer xx4x (Gives some nice defense like ranged mitigation 2, also the quick opening back with fanshot if I ever want to go back to pistoleer. Fix it!)
Scout 1xxx (provides faster hill running and not least a steady income with organic harvesting)
Lastly either novice medic or artisan, mostly depending on what I'm up to. Going for hard critters, medic, placing harvesters, artisan.
So far I like it a lot, very flexible with two near novice professions, can be set up for whatever work is needed. Say, want a few days hunting night sisters? Ditch artisan and scout for better medical skills. Want some fast running? Drop a novice and level the scout. Suddenly in the mood for a shop? By all means, drop scout and go business in artisan. Oh you say you want to join the party and dance? Well, find the entertainer trainer.
It opens a lot of possibilities, but only on behalf of swordsmen being as powerful as they are, and admittedly I don't think smugglers should run around with powerhammers and twohanded swords. I don't PvP, but swordsmen can do that with success, but I guess that'd force you to add a bit more defense stacking.

Heya EveryoneI've recently decided to pick up smuggler with one of my alts... not dabling in for feign death... but.. i want to be a master smuggler with a strong pvp/pve template... any suggestions? What templates are all you current master smugglers running around with? Any help is appreciated
In order to make best use of your remaining skill points after Master Smuggler, you're gonna want to either take the Unarmed or Pistols route. I honestly prefer pistols, since that's all you get out of Dirty Fighting ATM. There are some interesting possibilities here. A template you might want to check out:
Master Smuggler
BHXX4X
Pistoleer XX43
BH for the Pistol Accuracy and Speed mods, plus the Specials. With this template you have an accuracy mod of +115 and a speed mod of +109, both or which are higher than you would get under Master Pistoleer. However I would avoid using this template in OneVsOne PvP, and stay away from situations where you are outnumbers entirely, since the defenses suck (low Melee/Ranged Defense, plus none of the Dodge modifiers above Novice Pistoleer). In PvP, Pistol-Centered templates are better for support, especially the above. My own template:
Master Pistoleer
BH XX4X
Smuggler XX4X
Combat Prowess (FS) 44XX
Which leaves me with 4 skill points remaining, which I'm going to dump into Enhanced Reflexes/Ranged Defense once Phase 4 hits.

I use pretty much the exact same template. Master Smuggler/Master Sword/Pistoleer 0044/medic 0010, though I'm thinking of dropping medic and trying to pick up tkm for meditate. All in all, this rocks for PvE. Very few things can hit you and your def v KD, Dizzy, Blind or posture change is most excellent. I almost soloed Aklay, and would have if I wasn't an idiot and tried to change scythes when he was almost dead. One of the great things about Smuggler in PvE is using a bleed attack and then FD to heal while they weaken.
If you go down this road, I would suggest doing Jabba missions, one of the rewards is the Gammorean (sp) Axe, which has a mind disease on it. As a master swordsman I can mind hit and get a bleed and a disease on the mind in one hit, then switch to head hit (or maybe it's head hit before mind hit, I forget) and watch the mind waste away. If I take damage, I can FD and watch the Mind go while I heal.
The sad part about the smugglers ability to master a combat profession in addition to smuggler is the need to because as far as game play smuggler really doesn't give you much and you are really weak. So you turn to a combat profession and either PvE or PvP for fun. If you want to do both, I would suggest the triple master (Smug/TKM/Pistoleer). If you want to PvE, try sword. As for PvP, I don't really know, but I hear Fencer is hot these days or Pike if you can get some epic DOT NS Lance.
I’m a master smuggler, master fencer, some pistoleer and scout. In pve,my defenses make up lack of damage. Pvp, I’m a little week in the range department but I have some nasty DOT pistols to help make up for it.
