Thread: 10-Code

According to www.theforce.net, there's this thing called 10-code...

this was a spacer code which used pairs of numbers beginning with the number 10 for different common words or phrases. It was probably developed after the Empire began cracking down on spacers and smugglers.

Also according to theforce.net, there's only 1 official/extended universe 10-code number, and that's 10-96...

this is a 10-code which predates the creation of the official code language, and is rooted in the Old Corellian language. It actually has two meanings: an imbalanced individual, or a ke'dem.

So, I'm thinking for all the RPing Smugglers out there, maybe we can improve on this code, and make up more numbers. What do you guys think?

I declare 10-82 to be "cargo" with 10-83 being "illegal cargo"

Hrm.. maybe 10-74 could be Imperial ships or somethin.... 10-77 a boarding party? *shrug*

Yeah but that's real life, I'm talking about SWG =). I know there's something like it in real life, and we could use a lot of the real numbers. I just think it would be cool to get a universal set of codes for the SWG Smuggler RPers.

But even if it is mentionned in the extended universe, it just would feel so un-SWish to me, to go all "Ok, I will be there in 5 minutes. 10-4" you know?

I am not ditching the idea, just that for me it is too "real life" sounding to help me roleplay in the SW universe.

I wonder what the hell society's infatuation with making words "bad" is all about. Oh, also, I think that the U.S. has crazy ideas about censorship, especially sexuallly.

This country began as small colonies ofreligious nuts, so I guess there is my explanation. Weren't people burned to death for being witches or some garbage? I have to move to another country, hehe.

Actually, it wasn't so much religion as it was that the indigenous peoples had no concept of landownership, and most of the Puritans who came here were younger brothers of nobles.

Now back on topic before a HUGE argument breaks out

*plays 50's style school educational film*

abad word is a wonderful way to emphasize a point. For example: "Hey! you piece of sh*t" sounds so much better then say: "hey! you piece offecal matter!" while "would you like to copulate" just does not hit as hard as "lets f*ck". So you can see a good curse word is a great way to say "I care"

I'm not talking about the native americans, I'm talking about the puritans. I'm sure the natives had significantly more developed and mature views about sex than the incoming Puritans

rflmao they are actually playing nice, but it is true that it is a volatile subject , like playing nicely with a barrel of black powder.

Let's hope nobody will throw a match "chuckles"
