Another dice game for my fellow smugglers (and for anyone else who likes to roll them bones).
The games already offered by the SWG Casinos are Lugjack and Jubilee Wheel. Lugjack is like a one-armed bandit and doesn't give high payouts (a couple of credits). Jubilee Wheel is like roulette, but you can maximum bet 10.000 credits (per bet).
If you want higher payouts and more excitement than this, you have to gamble like in the real world!
Previously, I have posted the Snake Eyes dice game - this time I will introduce you to Pirate Craps. Pirate Craps is basically just a variant of Private Craps. Private Craps is a dice game you're probably already familiar with through the movies (for instance Snake Eyes with Nicolas Cage), but don't know the rules. Below I will explain the rules and howyou canplay the game in SWG.
***PIRATE CRAPS GAME RULES***
Number of players: Two or more
Number of dice: Two six-sided dice (choose 'roll two' on a six-sided dice)
How to do it: Every player need a six-sided dice in their inventory. All players must be grouped together to see the results of the roll, which will be seen in the Combat log. I recommend that you use one player that acts as the 'bank', or 'pot'. When you are functioning like the 'bank', make sure you have all your credits in the bank - that way all your cash is the entire pot, and it will be easier to let the game flow. Therefore, use /tip if you can to save the charge of in-game bank tips. If it is a particularly hostile game where nobody trusts eachother, stay with bank tips. That way you all have receipts. Do not proceed with the game before all bets are clear and all money has gone to the 'bank'/'pot'. Personally, I take 5% of the winner pot aspayment formy service as 'bank'/'pot'.
General Rules
There are no official rules for Pirate Craps but the following conventions are common practice and can be used as a guide. All players agree on who will be the first shooter and then the dice pass in a clockwise direction. This can be decided by having the players roll one die, and the person with the highest outcome will start. New players may join at any time and take a position anywhere in the order of play provided there are no objections. Players may leave a game when they wish, no matter how much they have won or lost.
Play:
The first player, who throws the dice and who is known as the shooter, places the stakes he wishes to gamble into the centre of the playing area (in SWG by /tipping the bank).
The other players who wish to bet, cover all or part of the shooter's stake by placing their stakes into the centre as well.
This is known as fading and the players who cover the shooter's stake are known as faders.
The shooter then throws the dice. This is known as the come out throw. If he throws a total of 7 or 11 he immediately wins.
This is known as a natural.
If he throws a total of 2, 3 or 12 he immediately loses. This is known as craps.
Any other total thrown is known as the player's point and he continues to throw the dice until he either throws his point again or he throws a 7.
If he throws his point first he wins. This is known as making the point.
If he throws a 7 first he loses. This is known as a seven out.
If the shooter wins then he takes all the stakes in the centre. If he loses then each of the players take their stake back with an equal amount of the shooter's. These bets are known as the centre bet.
If the shooter makes a winning throw, the dice are said to pass. With a losing throw for the shooter the dice are said to miss.
The shooter may keep the dice and place a new stake if he throws craps or if he wins.
If he loses by throwing a 7, when trying for a point, the dice are passed to the next player who becomes the new shooter.
If the shooter wishes he may give up the dice so long as he is not shooting for his point number.
Side Bets:
Other bets, besides the centre bet, can be made between players and are called side bets. The shooter may take part in these bets as well as the centre bet. Side bets are made between two players who agree odds on the outcome of the dice.
One of the players is the wrong bettor and the other the right bettor.
The wrong bettor lays odds that the dice will not achieve an agreed outcome.
The right bettor takes odds that the dice will make an agreed outcome.
Flat bets are made on whether the shooter's come out throw will be a natural. These bets often occur when a player has covered (faded) the entire centre bet.
Point bets are made on whether a player who has thrown a point number will throw it again before a 7 (make the point).
An example of play:
We have 4 persons grouped together.
One person is acting as the bank, and the other 3 are the players A, B and C.
To determine who starts, players A, B and C roll one die each.
A rolls a 2, B rolls a 4 and C rolls a 5.
C will start.
C starts by saying in the groupchat window: Betting 10k. (This isa centre bet).
C /tips the bank 10k.
Bank says in groupchat window: Confirming bet. (The bank can make alot of macros for the different prcedures.)
Player A says in groupchat window: Fading 6k.
A /tips bank 6k.
Bank says in groupchat window: Confirming bet.
Player B says in groupchat window: Fading 3k. (Notice that the whole 10k of the shooter's bet isn't covered. This only means that the shooter can't win more than 9k. Faders decide how much they want to lose. Of course, a fader may cover the whole 10k bet if he wants!)
B /tips bank 3k.
Bank says in groupchat window: Confirming bet.
Suddenly, another person enters the locale. He asks if he may join; which he may.He will now be called player D. Since it's still possible for player D to join in on the betting, he does.
Player D says in groupchat window: Fading 1k.
Player D /tips bank 1k.
Bank says in groupchat window: Confirming bet.
Since all bets are ready, player A, the shooter, gets ready to roll his dice. He opens his inventory, finds his dice, and rolls two dice. He gets the result
2 6 (the two numbers are the two die rolls; a 2 and a 6, making a total of 8.)
Bank says in groupchat window: Your point is 8. (Now the shooter, player A, needs to throw an 8 in order to win. If he throws a 7 he loses.)
Player D in a /tell to player A: I bet 5k he won't make his point. (This is a side bet. Side bets can be done privately, like here, or, if you want to be certain you get the money;through the bank, using groupchat.)
PlayerA in a /tell to player D: I'll wager that.
PlayerC throw the dice and get: 5 4 (Making a total of 9. Shooter must throw again.)
PlayerC throw the dice and get:44 (Making a total of 8, which means he makes his point and wins.)
Bank says in groupchat window: You made the point and win!
Bank says in groupchat window: Bets being processed.
Bank says in groupchat window: Shooter wins 20k minus 5% service fee.
Bank /tips playerC (shooter) 19k. (The actual winning pot is 20k, but the bank keeps 5% as a fee for the service.)
Bank says in groupchat window: Bank pays shooter 19k.
At the same time, playerA and D make up their own private bet between themselves.
Player D /tips playerA 5k.
Bank says in groupchat window: Do you continue shooting?
Player A says in groupchat window: No, I pass the dice.
Bank says in groupchat window: Player B, your turn.
Some other tips:
- If you also say the results in spatial, people who are not directly involved can bet as well.
- For 'public' gambling I highly recommend Jabba's Palace Throneroom, Lucky Despot (Mos Eisley) and the Fallen Star (Mos Entha).
-You canpark your YT-1300 or Sorosuub (Lady Luck veteran award) behind Jabba's Palace (or at Mos Eisley / Mos Entha spaceport) and use it as a more private gambling place for the really high rollers.
Sources: I have taken the rules from the Dice-Play site, where you will find more about other side bets, odds etc. There are also alot of other dice games here. The way I have presented the game here is the way I believe it works best inthe SWGvirtual world with electronic dice - which means no cheating with the dice is possible by the way

You forgot to mention that as smugglers, we should always be the bank and we should be taking out a percentage of each bet paid off.
