"- Create a TEF during the actual act of slicing only (the moment that a Smuggler uses a Precision Laser Knife there is a TEF, and when the Smuggler closes the slice window, TEF goes away). This TEF would be a "Law Enforcement" TEF where NPCs (Such as Corsec or Imperial Patrols) would apply. There is also a random (low chance...eg 1:1000 non-law enforcement NPC) would go find a law enforcement NPC to report you."

No joke, this is a great one. I hope to god they can put this in. Can't think of anything better to make me feel like a criminal when I slice.

Of the ideas suggested, which is your favorite?

I've thought of something similar, though I don't think this Idea will work that great, imagine your slicing for a guy and suddenly get jumped and end up dead.. now you've got his stuff, and you could clone miles away.. and his crap just decayed. sound to me like the playerbase would find it to be more hassle.

On the other hand... if the smuggler were to get a TEF ONLY against the person for whom he is slicing.. it would add some risk for slicing and also give the customer the ability to shoot a smuggler if he decides to run off with his stuff.

My two creds..

But that's exactly why its such a good idea. You have to think before you slice. You have to choose where to slice instead of just standing outside the starport in Coronet in broad daylight. Personally I like having the customer follow me to a backroom in the cantina somewhere for slicing. Creates ambiance and lessons the lag.

Its not that its a difficult thing to get around, but at least you get the feeling you're doing something illegal.

So whats to keep a covert from handing you a CDEF just so you'll get a TEF and he can blast you? This would not just "add an element of risk", this would pretty much shut down slicing.

On the contrary, THAT particular element of risk is what would make slicing what it should be... Smugglers wouldn't be slicing for random people in the open.

Players would have to seek out a smuggler that is both trustworthy and also trusts them, instead of the current system ofgoing to the corner store smuggler for illegal weapons.

Not only that ,but sense the risk factor just went up, so did the price.

I DOES sound like a good Idea to have a general TEF, but then the risk factor is TOO high I think, because you will almost never be somewhere with no extra players around, and with that there will ALWAYS be someone that will shoot you just because they can. Thats not RP, it can't be planned for and if its a general TEF it can't be stopped.

Getting a TEF to security/officials while slicing is fab (if they add them in greater numbers in popular cities).

Getting a TEF to the customer- Not so cool as this is a gold plated invitation to griefing. Why else would a customer want to shoot the guy who is slicing his gear besides to grief them?

But a TEF to IMPs, Cor Sec and the like- BOSS.

Would it even matter about your faction to Corsec? I have +5000 Cor Sec faction due to my hatred of Swoop Gang Thugs and a certain penchant to slaughter Drall Patriots by the cave full ( I like that squeeky lil' hamster squeal they let out when you hit them with a power hammer).

Actually this is a very good idea. The risk element makes slicing a dangerous and expensive procedure. I like it. Adds an element of danger sorely missing to the activity and a MAJOR justification for raising the price of slicing that many of us have been looking for.

client " what do you mean 10k a slice? "

smuggler:" Yeah 10k per slice...my ass is in danger here while I am doing this"

client: " oh, I didn't realize. Ok let's do this"

smuggler: " that's more like it. Keep watch for me "

client: " oh ok cool! "

Very good idea.

"This TEF would be a "Law Enforcement" TEF where NPCs (Such as Corsec or Imperial Patrols) would apply."

I think this means it would not be the same as a TEF for other players, only for law enforcement npc's. However, I wouldn't mind if it did it for everyone. Basically TEF'ing you for the entire public. NOW you got something to worry about. NOW you'll actually think and discuss before getting out those knives. If you're customer decides to "off" you after he gets his stuff back, you LB him and run! Like a true criminal!

DEVS! DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR US! WE'RE WAITING FOR THAT ILLEGAL FEEL TO HAPPEN!

for the record, this isn't my idea, though i wish i could take credit, its just one submitted that i really like. And still I ask the question, which new ideas submitted do you really want to see happen?

I don't really like the Idea of ALL other players, because there is always the immature person out there that shoots just cause he can. Also that would be seen as 'forced' PVP for anyone trying to reach master smuggler, which for some reason is a big taboo to the devs, so I don't think this would be implemented.

If it WERE though I'd be interested to know if TEF can apply to group members, if not than my in-game policy would become to group with slicing customers so I can trust them, and so they can help me defend myself from 1337 d00ds and law enforcement.

It definatly has great potential.

the part of it with the Security forces is good, but not the players at all, if you have not played these types of game before then you need to know that PEOPLE ARE JERKS and you will constantly be getting ganked by little no-nut punks and their little no-nut friends just for the heck of it. Not a good idea.
