When I first mastered smuggler, I was not very happy with the %s I was getting. It seemed like i would rarely get 30%+ slices and I frequently got bad slices. I made my clamps and knives as I went with no experimentation at that point.

That all changed once I started experimenting on my clamps and knives while making my own factory runs.

Once i started using the experimented tools, I noticed a dramatic increase in my percentages, and I was able to sustain long strings of really good slices with only the rare sub-25% slice. Last night I got at least 4 45% armor slices with at least 6 other 40% + slices out of about 7 suits of armor. Most of the other slices were very good slices.

I know another smuggler who feels the same way, and there are other smuggler who are criticized for being superstitious. It seems kind of intersting to me as well that the developers felt a need to remove the expreimentation windows form spices, but not from slicing tools. Wonder why they leave that in?

Has anyone actually gotten concrete feedback from the developers positivley stating that quality of tools had no impact? Unless this has happened I dont think it is a good idea to tell everyone that expreimentation on slicing tools have no impact.

The professions of this game are like 32 spice fiends in the same room with a few fences. Everyone is screaming for their their fix. If you try to give everyone a little bump at the same time, nobody will be satisfied and the screaming will never end. If you single out each one really hook them up , you will slowly end the screaming. I know my turn is coming, but it still does not ease the pain of realizing I am nobody's favorite ho. I don't think we have gotten concrete info on anything from anyone. But I have done both ,used just the crappy leftovers to make my tools, and used the best stuff for my tools and bought only the highest quality upgrade kits and it didnt make much difference, still got some good slices and some bad slices.

But hey if it works for you keep doing it.

Well the fact is that the copper I used was not all that great, I think it was around 400ish on CN. But as a master smuggler I have allot of expreimentation points I can use in effectiveness. Why increase the exprerimentation points based on your level when expreimentation has no impact?

I think that the quality of the expreimentation could have a much larger impact than the quality of materials, (although material quality does have a partial affect on expreimentation)

I think I will make get some stone knives and do 100 slices without any tool expreimentation and then do another 100 with good expreimentation.

I've seen nothing to sway me either way for sure but what i have found works (if nothing else its fun) is to tell my clients to wish for the opposite of what they want. Being Superstitious in this respect has (believe it or not) gotten my clients what they truely wanted many time over and when it work its very funny....

Yeah, I gotta admit.I'm superstitious too.

But only with one tool. Precision Laser Knives. Although I haven't recorded any hard data (This, of course, discredits me instantly), I always found to recieve better average slicing percentages when using the highest conductivity copper availableto make the knives. I've never found any benefits fromhigh qualityWUKs, AUK's or Clamps.

Another doubtful possibilty would be the quality of the equipment being sliced. Again.....unproven, but I can recall specific instances when slicing composite for an Armorsmith buddy of mine when I recieved great results on his high-quality armor, and less-than-average results on his noob gear.

But, all that aside folks, people have tested these things time and time again. Whuile it's nice to see a post different than the recently popular "execute the devs" threads, we're really beating a dead dog on this issue.
