Need advice on the Smuggler/Gunsmith route.
Is Anyone pursuing this or have pursued this route.
I was hoping that by being able to make myguns then slice them and sell them would be a good money making route. I'll also be Doing the Buisness tree up to Business 4.
Is this overkill??? Will slicing weopons be enough?? I plan on buying the resources needed for the guns i make.
Am i wasting SP??
This is not going to be my PvP character. its my "i hope we get smuggler missions and Nuetral factions to join character....LOL..
thanx

I started going down that path, but it seemed to me that chasing down all of the very specific resources necessary for weapons was a big pain.
One thing I did do was to buy weapons from other weaponsmiths, slice them, and put them on my vendor. It worked fairly well, but I dropped all of that and moved on to Droid Engineer instead.
Gotta love those bomb bots.

Sup.
I'm a master smuggler/master weaponsmith/artisian 4004 (run a mining buisiness as well as my main source of income) on one of my characters. It's certainly nice to be able to sell sliced weaponry...but there's some negative aspects.
As yah know, smugglers can't pick which attribute to slice (this is my personal big pet peeve with the profession, since that's all I really have it for...) And I'm sure you know how 90% of the time, damage sliced is what people want, since at master level anything, they're capped at speed, or at least close enough to capped that speed is irrelevant. Combat revamp may change this...but that's months away. My point is that it is really annoying to slice a factory run of, say, 30 T21's and get 15 of them (on average) coming out speed sliced...few things are as wasted and pointless as a speed sliced on a T21, in my opinion (welI, encumbrance slice on a PSG is pretty stupid too!) Personally, Igot aggrivated enough that I've actually decided that I won't slice the mass runs (i.e. normal) weapons that I sell, only special orders, high-end (i.e. krayt, acklay, etc.) weapons, and orders by request. This way, I don't have to deal with slicing half a run of weapons that I would rather have damage slices on to speed, I don't have to deal with a vendor half full of speed slices/crappy damage slices that no one wants (maybe this isn't an issue? I dunno...haven't opened for buisiness yet), and I could actually generate more sales...some people will buy half a dozen guns in the hopes of getting one good slice.
Now, when the combat revamp rolls around and they fix the speed calculation formula (among other things), the above may not apply....speed sliced weapons might become far more attractive to more people than just grinders. And, obviously the above wouldn't apply anymore if they, ohhhh, just did a little hotpatch to let smugglers choose their slice (hint hint!)

How I run my Smuggler Gunsmith is 2 accounts, Main is Smuggler, Pistoleer, Scout (4.0.0.0), Medic (for stimp B use). Alt account is Master Artisan, Weapsonsmith, Armorsmith (basic strickly for making AUKs), Merchant, Scount (4.0.0.0), Medic (for stimp B use).
When I log in, I log in with the alt first, I check my venders and my factories. Because my main is not an artisan, she can place factories and houses (shops etc.) for my alt. Every 3 days my alt makes harvester runs, to collect and to make sure the resources have not shifted (I check swgcraft dailey). Sometimes I grind the Alt, for I am trying to get master weaponsmith (3 boxes to go), most of the time I log in my Smuggler and start manufactoring Clamps or knives in the factories (daily 500 at a time), then I go to coronet and get buffed and group with a droid, and then take missions, (trying to get those pistol xps).
And that is how my day goes most everyday...of course till I master. Made these 2 toons 3 months ago.

Same here. I was a Master Weaponsmith for maybe 2-3 weeks and had to drop it. I just didn't have the time for resource hunting. My hat's off to the Weaponsmiths of the galaxy. Now I've given up crafting and gone all combat smuggler so I can travel the galaxy at will.

ok i've made the desicion to not pursue any further in the gunsmith area. I'm gonna stick with
master smuggler
master pistoleer
ranged suppport IV
first aid IV --------- great feeling knowing i can heal myself and others if needed
That will leave me with 23 points for i dont know what
I'll probably leave it in entertainer for dancing since i have a weekly paying job of 50k dancing afk...

Take Artisan 0-0-0-2 that way you can use survey to place your harvesters you need for the spices you make and the clamps etc.

You can get an artisan friend to survey for you, and you can drop the harvesters yourself, so don't waste pts on artisan. Get Scout (4.0.0.0) for Mask Scent and terraine negociation.
My Smuggler will be master soon, and will be....
Master Smuggler
Master Pistoleer
Scout (4.0.0.0)
Medic (basic for stimp B use)
Right now I am Master Medic, I am making crates and crates of Stimp B's for future use because everyone charges an arm and a leg for them, when I have enough stored and need the skill pts for leveling I will drop to novice medic slowly.

Take a look at my sig, I've made decent money except can't make the high end stuff (can't compete with the established Masters anyway). I have 7 EXP and make decent weapons, with a toolbelt and a +2 WS EXP tape I can get 8 EXP.
I've managed to match my Adv Blaster barrels to Master's stats with just 7 EXP and good resources. Resources are the big pain but even with just a couple months under my belt and Fooman's Tool I have a decent collection of resources.
