I just got an idea that would tie the issue of having smuggler goods on regular vendors in with the BH missions on Smugglers. Bear with me, it's not fleshed out and I'm typing as I'm thinking.

Having illegal items on vendors is a moronic side effect of this game. However, there is always one place all us smugglers have wanted to do business, right? That's it, the Cantina!!. If the devs could somehow enable smuggler goods ... sliced weps/armor, smuggler tools (including knives, clamps, FANs, WUKs and AUKs) and spices... to be put on vendors in Cantinas and in Cantinas ONLY, then we have some content.

Now, they wouldn't appear on the normal pages. The Customer would have to click a button on the vendor screen indicating that they want to see the "more shady" aspect of the merchandise. Clicking this button would rack up a small amount of visibility for both the customer and the smuggler whose items are on the vendor. Buying these wares would gain even more "visibility" for both the smuggler and the customer.

The customers could have the option to turn in the smugglers, once they receive enough "visibility". This way, they don't need to be hunted down, but they could sick the empire onthe smuggler. If the customer has garnered enough "visibility" then they go to the nearest imperial recruiter, who recognizes how much "visibility" the customer has. the customer is then given a list of smugglers whose items he/she has bought. The Customer turns in one or more of them, depending on how much visibility they wish to lose.

The empire then places smugglers who've gained enough of these points onto the BH terminals. Also, customers who gain too much "visibility" and don't "cash it in" would also, given enough time, be put on the BH terminals.

Now, I'd love to see smugglers be able to slice these terminals in order to take themselves / other players off the terminals, just like others have suggested in the past.

This would give some much needed content to smugglers, the GCW, and cantinas, including placing a new emphasis on player cities and player cantinas, which live entertainers would love!

in response to my own thread, I think that in order to further tie the GCW into it, rebel customers and neutral customers should have some sort of penalty when trying to turn in smugglers to the imperial recruiters. This could come in the form of a price in credits, or they could just lose far less visibility per transaction than an imperial would lose.

again as I said in the other thread, this creativity is why the smuggler forums are the best. now if the almighty dev's would stop pointing th's deaf ear our way, give us the ear of his usually reserved for his jedi.....

p.s. doesnt mean i don't love ya th

ok i'm responding to my own thread again, with further ideas!! (why is it that i never have successful threads, unless I hijack someone else's to argue in it?)

With the idea of having the vendors in the cantina be the only vendors in the entire game on which a smuggler can post his goods, I feel that every player placed cantina should come with a bartender NPC. This bartender NPC would have the conversation, dialogue boxes that recruiters and such have, not the vendor screen. You could ask for food or beverage, but while it WOULD fill you up, it would do nothing for your stats. Don't want to take away from player chefs here. The bartender's food and drink would fill you up, which would make the healing process from entertainers go quicker. If you order alcohol, the healing process would be slower. This bartender's food, drink and alcohol would be solely for the purpose of cantinas, it would not be beneficial whatsoever once you leave the cantina (you would still have the filling from it tho).

Now, there would be another option on the bartender, to see his "more shady" wares. This is where the smuggler's items can go. This option would more than likely have to pop up the vendor items screen we're all accustomed to. I think that smugglers would have to register with that bartender through the player who owns the cantina. More than 1 smuggler can be contracted through that particular bartender, but a smuggler can only be contracted to one bartender. Or maybe a smuggler can have 1 bartender per planet on which players can place structures.

So, what do you guys think overall? Good, bad, awkwardly ugly? Any and all feedback is welcome!!

I'm all for Sliced Items and Spice on Vendors tagging the owners of the vendors for a bounty. Just as long as they don't consider smuggler tools illegal. Otherwise, you'd have to put a bounty on the AS or WS who makes the Schematics for them.
