Hey you know we are all or hopefully will be doing illegal activities, why not add another dimension to being caught, either slicing or by a scan or what may come, jail time.

It goes like this, I'm slicing the terms on Dant to get some 40K Janta Shaman missions and I get caught. A contingent of ST's arrest me. Now I can try and escape, but say I don't. They then take me to a local jail cell, and I can now send tells to my friends to take up the new mission of breaking me out of the jail. To make this faction balanced, I suppose imps would be taken to a rebel jail.

It just seems to me the spectrum of penalties is empty in the middle. Either you pay a fine or get teffed and they try and kill you. Why not something in the middle like jail time, which might be an interesting way to add content for smugglers. And, who knows, you might meet someone in jail either another player or a special NPC who can train you in some special smuggler skill, following the scheme of incarceration being a kind of training ground for criminals.

I remember jail suggestions from a long time ago. (before the game was released).

The big problem with that is that the jailled person is basically caught unable to do nothing for a certain period of time (well, true when we are incapped, but that's short). Imagine you have no friends online to take up the jail break mission? Would you wait in jails for hours? Or have to say "bah, I'm logging" and coming back to play later? It either case, it would get boring quick.

That said, I think It could work... if we have a choice. Pay a hefty fine, or be jailled. That way, if you can't break out (would like a chance to break out, would be nice) and no friends are trying to rescue you, and you are not willing to rot in jail for hours, then you could pay the hefty fine and be free.

Sure, maybe there could be a lot of options to getting out, like bribery, slicing the doors, feigning death...
