Thread: Urban Stealth : Who should get it?

After readnig through all of the threads...and I do mean all of them, I get the idea that many of the Rangers [ or whatever they will be] would not object to Smugglersgetting the skill Urban Stealth.

I wonder Wes, what your thoughts are about this were. I dont mind stealing being left to them, I think a name change is in order due to the implications of Rogue/Scoundrel like skill..maybe to something like confiscation. Also I think confiscation should be left to the Rangers for no other reason than thatit will ultimately serve as content for us in the future...hopefully.

A side note: If we were given a set of skills to evade Bounty Hunters and Rangers, that wouldn't necessarily have to be a form of stealthing,i'd be happy.

Lets not head down this road and start asking for other professions abilities (or soon to be) like others do. I think the Urban Stealth ability should be left with the Rangers. It goes with their redesign of a paramiltiary type character.

I agree on the evade skill, that would be more of our type of move, but not anything as ridiculous as the Jedi have with the cloak ability. Something like a beacon that gives radars a false direction or distance away for a very short period of time.

We need to have a fast talk skill as opposed to urban stealth. I say let the skulking around to the rangers and leave the silver tounge to us

Let the Rangers get their **edit**! For god sakes how greedy can we be?!? Smugglers get OUT of dangerous situations... Not hide from them. We have LD, FD, CS, PS and a **edit**load more ways to avoid BH's...

personaly, id like the urban stealth, but fast talk skill would be better.. however, the stealth thing is a craftable item for rangers.. so why not give us a cert to use it (although at lesser skill), but probly not be able to craft it, seeing as it looks like its some kind of military prototype.

maybe whats needed instead of a skill is an underowlrd npc. You pay him a small fee and in return any BH's or Rangers looking for you will be fed false information as to what planet or system your in through the spynet group. This could be timed skill or option to avoid griefing. Maybe an item as a reward would be a scrambler for our radar sig with a power unit that drains etc. I'm sure there are tons more ways but simply asking for another proffs brand new skill isnt the way. Be nice but not for us, lets be tricky and sneaky and use our contacts to make there pursuit tougher, if they do catch up then WHAM CS and off we go. If that doesnt work SS (for those that have it) and we carry on. If they are persistant let me come and hit em with everything ya got then wham FD, stay down for a few, wait for em to walk away then pop back up and complete the mission.

I think we shouldn't go stealing others skills, as much as I'd like it. I think some kind of evade is more fitting, especially one that allows us to evade scans from BH traker and seeker droids. We already have the ability to evade contraband scanning droids so it isn't much of a stretch.

....

Rifleman of course in our role as assassins

...

But am glad the rangers got it, they deserve the skill and it is something that they have been asking for for a very very long period of time.

I suspect that fast talk and more indirect methods of not being noticed (taking back alleys, landing out in corn fields, Hiding cargo in small hiding places) are more the method of steath used by smuggler rather then active laser decoys.

As a ranger three times over and now grinding for the fourth time, I wouldn't care if you guys got urban stealth except for one thing...what would you do with it? It looks like the SWG devs are starting to get away from having skills just for the sake of having them. It sounds like urban stealth will actually have a purpose for rangers within missions. Even for PvP role-play purposes. As a part of your missions systems, you will have skills that other professions won't have unless they spend the skill points. If urban stealth was integrated into smuggler missions or PvP espionage stuff, then yeah, you should get it too.

bloody brilliant! skills with a purpose! i love it! the more i think of it the more i realise its not stealth i want at all.. its just something.. anything.. that would allow me to feel roguish... if only there actually was some sort of underworld in this game...

Chill out, If you read the entire post you'd see that i'm not adverse to having something comparable to stealth for the smuggling line..ie some form of evasive skill. I brought up Urban Stealth because it can be used as a form of evasion. And yes..we have LD, FD..and all of the wonderful things that you mentioned, but you know what...the bounty hunter has the first shot.

You're right, Smugglers don't necessarily hide, but they sure do go through extremes to avoid detection...and that my irrate friend, is what i'm looking for.
