Have they said anything about a revamp? I know that when I was a master smuggler 6 months ago that they were talking about it. I feel for you all and hope you get the att. you deserve. Master Smuggler was on of my favorite profs, just wish it was better.

I think the answer is pretty clear actually.
We'll get a revamp when the Smuggler profession is as important to thier financial bottom line as Jedi were.
In other words probably never.

We probably wont be getting a revamp for atleast another 9 months to a year, though I'd say more then that (if ever). We're not important enough to the Devs to be revamped. As soon as everyone stops being a Smuggler, then the Devs wont have to worry about a revamp and they can remove the profession completely, which is what I think they're hoping for.

I never heard of a MMORPG volontarly killing a profession with the hope that anyone drop it so they can remove it. The thought sound to me...ludicrous.
BUT given that the "non combat profession revamps" are scheduled for after the CURB, and that this CURB is barely begun... and that we might not be top of the list on the "non combat profession" qeue, I would say 8 to 9 months sound about right.

Let's see...
I seem to recall people saying "8 to 9 months" about 8 to 9 months ago as well.
So far all the predictions on when we'll get revamped have come and gone and I don't see anything to suggest that will change.

According to my calculations:
1. CURB will probably go Live sometime within the next 6 months (give or take a month.)
2. Since the Smuggler Revamp will almost more than likely NOT just be dedicated to our profession and be a non-combat profession revamp, it will take more than 3 months to go from concepts to live. I'd say more like 4 or 5.
So, I'd guess earliest we'd ever get our Revamp would be Jan 2006.
Latest would actually be never, as I can also see an alternate timeline in which the non-combat profession revamp gives slicing to WS and AS, spices to Chef, our specials to Pistoleer, and FP selling to Merchant...culminating in a post from the devs that is along the lines of:
"We're very sorry, but this needs to be done in order to bring balance to SWG. The Smuggler profession only has 10 actual people using it, and there's no need to actually have it in game. It has been submitted to the bug department, and its existence is a known issue. Patch 20.1 will completely remove the Smuggler profession and all traces of it.
IF you were playing as a Smuggler you could never be deleted. Now you can =)"

And the worst thing is, I'd kind of welcome that. To be put out of my misery. A mercy killing, so to speak. Bring it on, I've suffered anough.

I may put myself out of my own misery long before then.
I'm talking myself into giving myself a deadline; find something about Smuggler worth waiting a third year for or ditch it (SWG) REALLY soon and never look back.

Yeah.. back around six months ago, there was some talk--admittedly optimistic talk, but for various reasons, still believable--about our revamp getting seriously underway as of February or so of this year.
Guess how that went.
I don't see our revamp happening this year, either (shocking! when even the last Friday Feature's been delayed 2+ weeks now), and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it got pushed back another year after that as other problems and priorities arise, or if it were even dropped/delayed indefinitely. Weigh the amount of work we need for a solid revamp against the number of people affected by that revamp, then combine that with our profession's history, and such a thing isn't at all farfetched.
I'm into JTL and shipwright stuff for now, and who knows, maybe the CURB will be amazing, but I'm really starting to feel like a chump for sticking with smuggler. At the same time, there's no way I'll ever drop it. It's not going to be too much longer before I start considering a better way to spend my free time.
