It's bad, but it's not entirely bad.. TH lurks here from time to time..
He last posted here on the 14th.. that's a lot better than some profession forums I know.

easy there Yimaz, a blaster is too straight forward. I say we go with something a little more subtle. *hands over trench fighting knife*

I'm pretty suprised he visited the CH forums. When I left, there was a pretty huge amount of hatred towards him there. I'd feel much safer visiting the smuggler forum than the CH forum.
I've been both a Master Smuggler and an MCH, and I must unfortunately admit that I think CH is in more dire need of a revamp. Smuggler's aren't a quarter of what they could and should be, but at least we're something. CH is possibly the most broken class in the game right now. Except for Squad Leader

ok, i don't want to start a war, between two groups who i will admit need love, but i do scratch my head at a few things... CH can get creatures, yes. i'm not sure at what level they stop at for being able to tame a baby whatever. but with the BEs, they can have some REALY HUGE PETS. granted i bet it gets a little expensive to feed the bug'uns. you have actualy had a working class since launch, correct? smugglers haven't. these people who have been crying that "X proffesion is broken" should actualy either go straight combat. or do something else... Squad Leaders, when used correctly, can increase a groups effeciency in battle 20-30%. with commands like Group Volley fire, Group Terrain neg. and Burst run, Morale
and even steady aim, you can seriously put a lot of hurt downrange. i have looked at your issues list. one of the things that stood out was this one
"Profession no longer has a niche in which it is particularly valuable. Melee players provide better tanking and damage-dealing, while Bio-Engineers sell better pets"
of course melee players are good at damage and tanking.. with doc buffs, and a sliced, p-up'ed high oq resource weapon.and armor, who woulden't be? and Bio-engys sell better pets, because like any RL breeder, thay can make sure the poorer traits stay out of the creature.
just my two cents. sorry if i've offended anyone.

Didn't CH already have a revamp when the trees were changed so that you get max pet level in all 4 trees instead of just the training tree? I remember I was a BH/CH then with 2/2/0/0 in CH so I could use the graul maulers. I'm pretty sure that's why it was changed. So you couldn't use high level pets from spending so little skill points. (Remember maulers were light AR and had 75% kinetic then). Thought that was their revamp. I didn't stick around to test it out though, dropped the day that came out cuz I was pissed that I couldn't use my maulers

Oy, didn't mean to start an argument here and this probably isn't the place, but I'll try to follow through...

That's exactly true. What this statement is really saying is that CH is useless. My Master CH had about 1/4 the damage output of my novice TK (and TK doesn't shine until well after novice). So they're no good at dealing damage. Extremely few people prefer mounts over vehicles, and other non-CH pets are pretty near worthless. So CH isn't a money-making profession. A buffed and armored melee class will take less more damage and regenerate far faster than any MCH pet, so MCH is useless at tanking. In PvP, pets damage is reduced by 75% per normal PvP rules, but they still take full damage. So CH is useless in PvP.
You say that of course someone with great buffs and armor will be a better tank than a CH. That's the problem, CH has no way to enhance their pets. We can't get armor, and the only chance we have at buffing (very nearly useless chef foods) give our pets about a2% bonus as opposed to the about 200% of a doctor buff. If we could pay for great buffs and armor like other classes, we would.

I wouldn't call that anything near a revamp. If smugglers were changed so you could slice terminals at novice and containers at level one, feign death came at master, and panic shot was at dirty fighting 1, would you call that a revamp? Definately not. CH has had nothing but nerfs (excluding the addition of mounts, which doesn't help as much as you might think) since day 1. Admittedly they deserved these at first as we were vastly overpowered to begin with, but we've been nerfed to a state of uselessness. The explantion to this is that we've been put in line with what will be the norm come combat balance, but it keeps getting delayed. So We've been "balanced" before everyone else probably a year in advance.
Smuggler's got its problems. Slicing is dull and too random. Spice isn't random enough. Dirty fighting has no unarmed skills. We don't smuggle. But we have uses. Last Ditch and Low Blow can be incredibly useful in the right context, and everyone loves feign death. We can definately make money slicing, and even make millions selling faction. Smuggler definately needs a revamp, but until that happens, we have something nearly workable.
I'm not offended and I hope I didn't offend anyone else. Didn't mean to start an argument here
