I will be mastering Smuggler within the next couple days. I haven't visited these boards much, but have been reading alot of mixed reviews. I beleiving it "should" be one of the most enjoyable classes out there. Crime is fun... everyone knows this.
So... I ask yous a simple question. Do you all really think that the Smuggler class will be improved in the near future?
p.s. pardon bad grammar... I decided to have a couple beers on my lunch break.

Define "near future". In the cosmic sense of time, yes. Should happen just before our Sun goes super-nova. I think the day before that is scheduled, our revamp is scheduled. But I could be wrong.. it may be the day after super-nova. Dang.. I can never remember the details......

Okay 6 months is my guess, but imagine JTLS publishes to fix the errors and balance out game play. So let's say October is JTLS...so I'll put my chips down on April 2005 for the Smug revamp to happen. Will it be worth the wait? For me it will because I intend to keep my main character right where she is...as a Master Smug.

Improved? Yes.
However the revamp wont be till next year probably, and that's where the real changes will be that will make/break smugglers. Thats where the real fun stuff should be.

I personally will remain optimistic about the future of the profession I hold near and dear to me.
If nothing else, in the years to come after this came has gone by the wayside, people will ask me..
'Hey, did you ever play that game "Star Wars Galaxies"?'
To which I can reply, 'Indeed I did, I had three accounts, one of which was a Master Smuggler since 2 months after launch'
'Wow.. I had a Jedi, I could have pwned j00'
....
But this could be just my hope that the revamp [someday..] will be as good as it damn well should be

What kind of beers...Guiness?
I would say "near future" no? Maybe a few months after JTLS comes out which is the main focus, well then there are the publishes after JTLS...make that six months is my estimate.
I find smuggler to be a very fun profession to be in, despite the drawbacks and complaints from others who whine about prices and such...I laugh at them shake my head as I pat their's once or twice like little babies.
I have had some overall positive experiences as a Master Smug, it wasn't my first choice (actually my first holo) but I've given up the quest for "the force" and will stay with it. "SmugLife 4 Ever" ;P.

6 months after JtL is pretty bad, but it's almost minor in comparison to the time many of us have been waiting already... has it been a year yet..?

I'm not optimistic that the promised revamp won't be pushed back again (and again) for whatever reason comes to their minds.
They first promised it a year ago, another year's not beyond belief.
I may keep some of the skills, but I don't intend to hang onto useless ones until that mythical day (like underworld for neutrals). I mastered Smuggler in a single weekend, I'm sure I can do it again if and when this revamp becomes something other than vaporware.

Being a Smuggler will be fun. Being a Smuggler will be fun. Being a Smuggler will be fun. Now I just click my heels three times....DAMN I forgot my ruby slippers.

I've had fun playing a smuggler. The first few months of being at the top of the smuggling food chain is quite enjoyable, knowing that no one slices better than you and you are the only one that can buy Imperial and Rebel faction (and perks at a discount). That should carry you into JTL, which will keep you busy for a bit longer. That's the upside. The downside is that I think that 6 months is on the optimistic side--my guess is 9-12 months.
