What would be the best novicebranch to replace the brawler branch? Express your opinion.

The only other thing I can think of is Marksmen 0004 (I can't remember what that tree is called). It's really the only thing that fits. Perhaps Exploration IV...

Or maybe, for a change of pace, a tree in any of the piloting professions. Like 4000 (any) pilot profession.

I am going to start up my flame extinguisher before I say this. /ignitesflameextinguisher

It should be the engineering tree in Artisan. It is not combat but it is like slicing and will fit well if we can get some ship slicing abilities. Any how I don’t see it ever changing, I have only been playing this game for a few months but I can tell it is about the money and who wants it, not the players and what we want. O well I will continue to play cuz I don’t like KTOR. Um well I am kind of playing that now too. Hmmm O well.

The Origin of the SWG Smuggler:

In the beginning, there was beta. During this time the Devs made the planets, the battlefields and the professions. One of these professions was Smuggler, which couldn't smuggle. The required skills to raise oneself to meet the demands of the profession were x4xx Marksman and xx4x Artisan. These were undoubtably the most useful knowledge bases for the smuggler, pistols skills for concealed weapons and the ability to sell wares. However, the almighty DEVS decided to mix things up. Brawler 4xxx was thrown into the mix, creating a need for 3 novice professions. They included language such as "Dirty Fighting" and "Street Fighting" to accommodate this. By the end, the DEVS had given up their hopes of an Underworld profession and decided Smugglers didn't need to sell things. Artisan xx4x was stricken from the records, barely to be remembered again.

i like survival 4, simply because i think it would be funny to have to make camps to hide out in the middle of nowhere when running from a BH.

Empire Strikes Back: "'My friend,' *crack*." Lando falls to the ground.

Return of the Jedi: Tiptoe up to a scout trooper, step on a twig, look surprised, get the DL-44 knocked out of your hand... Start fighting the trooper with your bare hands like a professional wreslter. Slam him into that turnbuckle... Oh no, he's getting on the top rope! Elbowdrop!

Of course, he used his blaster on many, many more occasions than that.

In any event, I am in agreement that brawler really doesn't make much sense. Exploration, with the increased terrain negotiation and burst run efficiency for getting out of trouble, would be my favorite pick as an alternate prerequisite. Though that might encourage even more bounty hunters to dabble themselves some last ditch, which would mean even more Jedibegging for a nerf.Maybe moving the BH to one of the different lines of scout would be helpful as well. I'm sure many BH will tell me otherwise.

Perhaps making the scout survival line the updated prereq would also make sense--laying low tends to put the Smuggler into bad positions at times. And it would support the smuggler/squad leader combo rolewhich Han and Lando seemed to be filling in RoTJ. (Additionally, Talon Karrde seemed to be rather squad leaderish.)

Re: 4000 pilot--What happens if you decide to drop pilot professions (from switching faction or to just to go after the nine-ace tour?)

Re: Engineering IV--It makes sense, and I'm sure it'd make Tomo (and the other smuggler/shipwrights) happy, but I don't like it. Mind you, I was4000 artisan, master scout, and 0004 CH (I miss my humbaba mount)when I first mastered Smuggler, and I did miss being able to craft a couple of the artisan tools when I went for something more combat viable, but, really... Droid batteries and repair kits aren't that hard for anyone to come by.

Well I think I remember Han punching Lando but I think he missed, well at least the DEVs got one thing right, with a big fat profession wiff. How does one apply to be a CSR? My bud got out of the Navy and needs a new job. Any how I would like to see Artisan (if we can slice our own ship components) over Brawler and Scout over either (if we cant) but I think it will stay the way it is. O well, if any SOE paycheck collectors want to chime in feel free.

The brawler makes some sense in terms of a dirty street fighter . . . but in that case Smuggler should have either some melee specials or the ability to use a few melee specials while armed with a pistol.

this makes a little sence to me.

i love the idea and think you can make a combination of the 2....

...meaning give smuggler a few melee attacks thatonly work with a pistol(hope that makes sence)kinda like firearmstrike....its a ranged-melee attack when you think about it
