I'm not looking to start a flame war, I just need advice in these dark times.
Since the revamp was postphoned I'm really at a loss as to what to do in game. I had some goals to get things like storm trooper armor and the like and to level back to use up all my points which I have while waiting for our profession fix. Now when I look forward to the upcoming publishes I'm coming to the conclusion that its time to take a break. So back to my title question, when is there likely to be a change worth my time again. To preface, the life of the Jedi has no interest for me.
So then do I pop back in after the combat balance, aka the supernerf? Wait till JTL is released or even till the smuggler publish comes out after that? Or is it best to just give up here and buy back many hours of my time?
The other thing question is whether to actually cancel my account. I'd hate to have to spend weeks shooting kreetles again just so I can spend a week begging for containers when I already have a maxed character with a good amount of credits saved. If you cancel, can you reregisterand not lose everything?

I've been doing the special quests a little bit more for fun. I now actually feel comfortable in the Geonosian dungeon... meaning that I know exactly where the danger spots are. This doesnt mean I always livelonger (damm Feign Death failed me again last night), but sometimes now I actually DRIVE away from the dungeon instead of being carried out in a body bag! I have never made it to the end, but I've been pretty deep. I was doing well the other night till some jerk dragged all his aggroed animals over to us.
Also, went up on the Corvette solo a couple of times to play around. Died, of course, but had fun seeing how long I could live.
Bottom line is you might try doing some things you think are too hard a few times to see if you can get better at them.

I'm hoping things improve when the hologrind ends. I'm not so confident about any major changes with the combat balance, but at least it'll be something new to experience. Frankly I'd be happy if they threw everything up in the air and let it fall where it may regarding combat balance, because it's anything but balanced now. I wouldn't call it nerfing if it's fixing something that is so clearly broken in so many ways.
What I'd like to see done most:
- End hologrinding.
- Fix combat, profession balance, useless weapons and armor, and soloing rancor lairs.
- Fix the economy (too much money out there).
- Give Smuggler some love (I'd be happy just being able to add or remove people from BH terminals -- ANY player!).
I have enjoyed the game more lately doing theme dungeons and quests. I did get frustrated last night when I went to Coronet to get my wounds healed (died fighting Acklay in the Geo Labs the night before) and no doctor wanted to bother with me, because they were all too busy healing people who were tumbling for tips. I offered a guy 10,000cr to heal my 200 wounds. Amazing. And in the days gone by, doctors would love you to come in the Med Center with wounds with the hope of getting a good tip for healing you!

I know the feeling, I got diseased (by a diseased nuna of all things)last night and went to a few docs and asked if they could help me and of course they didnt have any disease packs. No room for them with all the buff packs I guess. I am not bashing doctors, just the state of the game.

Seriously, I've you've become dis-enchanted with the game, I'd recommend that you take a break for a few weeks. I myself had started to lose interest, so I left and came back. Lo and behold, I came back and have had more fun than ever being a smuggler.
Although the smuggler profession hasn't changed much over the last couple months, the game itself has had numerous interesting changes, such as the aforementioned dungeons.
I wouldn't necessarily wait for the revamp or JTL. Just take enough time to get a change of pace in your online gaming, come back with no expectations, and you'll find in a few weeks that SWG is still the fun game that you started playing way back when.
