You also better know SQL pretty well and have an oracle database and a ton of other important stuff. SWGEmu is nothing more then a UI mod. Now if some genius ever pulled it off... well that would be another matter entirely. You seariously don't think we're worried about this do you?"

Howdy, pardon the noobness! just 2 questions..#1 Why am I permanently sealing about half the containers I try to slice open with my precision laser knife?? #2 Once you hit armor slicing, does going higher influence the outcome when slicing armor..I wonder because I don't see any additional skill mods beyond that level for armor slicing? Just wonderin'. Thanks a bunch!

#1 Well, just using a laser knife, you have about a 50% chance of guessing the right wire. If you guess wrong, it locks permanently.

You can use a Flow Analyzer Node for a 75% chance of picking the right wire (If you apply it first, before cutting one)

Or a 100% chance of picking the right wire if you use a Molecular clamp.

Make sure you read the directions. You can not slice blindly even using clamps.

Also, after armor 3, your slicing does improve at Master Smuggler for both armor and weapons.

For specifics, check the important link sticky and find the FAQ.

Hello

I have only been playing the game for a few weeks. I finally made Novice Smuggler, gaining the necessary Pistol and Unarmed skills to get N. Smuggler. I have been slowly building my new smuggler skills. I noticed that three of the smuggler skill sets use Pistol XP; Underworld, Slicing, and Dirty Fighting. I have gained one box in each of these. My problem seems to be Spices, which is supposed to rely on Combat XP according to the skill screen. I seem to have stopped gaining Combat XP. I am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem, and if there's something that I'm missing. I read through the FAQ, but I think it must be older. It mentions types of smuggler xp that I haven't gained or seen anything of in-game.

I'm really enjoying the Smuggler. Any help or hints would be appreciated, so I can one day be Master. Thank you.

Combat Xp accrues much slower than normal XP. In all liklihood you are still gaining XP but you just don't notice it.

I thought at first that was it, that I just wasn't noticing. (The new xp display system has made it harder to tell how much I'm making) I'd figured on making Spiceaftermaking the three pistol xp skills, since combat is effectively about 10% what pistol is. I watched it progress as I made my skills, slowly but surely. I thought for sure I'd make it around the time I got my third pistol xp smuggler skill. When I noticed it hadn't seemed to move as I made my third skill, I checked the xp. I was at 50K, so I decided to test out and track to see how much I got with the next mission. At the end of the next mission, my combat xp had not gained anymore. I'm still at 50K, and am not gaining anymore.

I've been reading the same thing in various places. It seems the combat exp cap is based on your "combat level" so you might have to train up a few more boxes that use the pistol exp before it will raise the cap on combat exp.

Kind of astupid system if you ask me, butin my opinionthe whole CU completely blows.

I thought the NGE couldn't be any worse than the CU, but I was wrong.

You might be able to increase you combat xp cap by taking the ranged support line of marksman. I think that in addition to CL, your highest level box in combat xp skill.

For example, MBH+MRifle (CL 80)can get 1.2 million rifle xp, 900k carbine xp and 900k pistol xp. MBH+MRifle+Pistols 0404 (CL 80) can get 1.2 million rifle xp, 1.2 million pistol xp and 900k carbine xp. So I'm pretty sure the skill boxes have something to do with it too.

Thank you to those that responded. I went and trained in Ranged Supprt 4, I had the others but decided I wanted to save the skill point for the smuggler skills, since I'm running out of them. (Master Image Designer and Master Dancer) If Ranged Support is needed to progress as a Smuggler, then it needs to be stated as a requirement, so people don't get stuck. I sent in a bug report. I'll see if I can lose the ranged support once I start gaining smuggler spice. Guess it just needs some experimentation. Thanks again for your advice.

You can always drop ranged support 4 later, of course...

I hadn't heard of this particular weird 'bug' post CU... reminds me of my brother's problem, he can't master Scout because his CL is so high that he get zero XP for the animals that he can trap... and the wussy level 1 traps can't trap the higher level mobs that he can actually get XP for. So he's screwed... unless he drops all his skills.

Glad you're enjoying Smuggler...
