Hey, I was looking for advice here and I thought about the mass of players on the forums and the Smugglers (cause we take it off some sweet jumps ) Surely someone works/ed at a Kohl's (hopefully).

They're opening a new store near here and with my current state of unemployment (*shakes fist at Sam's Club* frackin' gimps!) I was going to apply. So I was just curious if anyone that has worked in one or does work in one could offer any advise or information to help a fellow SWG player out

I've got 2 years of retail experience in the electronics dept. of Sam's (and I do know about every product I sell), I'm fork lift certified, andI know about misc. other thingslike hardware/houseware/janitorial/office supplies. Like, if you know what the good positions are for my experience, what should I ask and/or look for so I don't get the crap position to start out

You know, general info that's usefull

I appreciate any help I can get 'cause I'm hurtin' for a job real bad lol. If you want to, PM me for privacy, that's cool too. And if this is the wrong forum or something I shouldn't be posting, just alert teh GarVa or Big V. and I apologize. Just looking for some advise

Thanks, I appreciate any advice!

I've never worked there (or in treatail at all for that matter), but the one near me doesn't have much in the way of an electronics dept. I can't speak for all Kohl's, but mine is about 80% clothing with some toys/jewelry/perfume making up the other 20%. So, I would keep that in mind when you apply, you might need to focus more in another area besides electronics.

Take my advise with a grain of salt though, because i am far from any sort of authority on the matter!

Good luck man!

Any job is about prep work. Make sure you've got a good resume, even if they only ask for an application. Also, have a prepared application before you go in. Both of these things can be found online and really help by letting you refine what you tell them your qualities are before you actually go in. The other thing I would suggest is to go online and see if they announce job openings or job openings with similar jobs with similar companies. The announcements help you tailor your resume and application to make you sound like you're exactly what they're looking for.

Also, as you know already, retail is about motivation. Go into it showing them you've got that motivation, and you make a huge impression on them. After having a couple years under their belt in any field, sometimes people forget what it takes to get the job or think their experience speaks for itself. The resume/application only gets you in the door, it's your appearance and how you convey yourself in the interview proccess that usually gets you the job regardless of the position.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I was a truck unloader at Kohl's, until they fired me.

They said they didn't have the "hours" for me, but I'm sure it was some douche that caught me napping in the upper part of the warehouse on a bunch of sweaters.
