Thread: An FP question and I have read the sticky :)

Just wondering, as I couldn't see it anywhere in a sticky...

I'm Rebel Colonel. With the new patch lifting Smuggler FP caps, can I buy Imp faction points myself to negate my -5000 Imp faction, or do I have to get an Imp Smuggler to buy them for me and then delegate them to me?

Cheers guys.

My experience on the other side of the fence is that reb recuiters wont talk to me. Ive been attempting to find out when they will speak to me but, I dont wana hurt my Imp faction standing to do it, so that leaves me with deliver missions and you can only do so many of those.....or a rebel smuggler thatI could buy from.

Thats why Id like to test just how the Persuasion branch of hightened senses works..(I think is senses in the force sesitive skills)...says it makes you appear alligned with who ever your talking to at the time..but you have to be a master medic to unlock that branch and i dont wana test it THAT badly.

So id say yeah you need another smuggler to buy imp points from to get you..AT LEAST far enough outa the hole so recuiters will talk to you, but I dont know how much that is, and if your gona use another smuggler to get you there (wherever there is) you might just as well get the full 5k.

My experience as a neutral that bought enough faction to do the Rebel themepark, then dropped my faction...

The Imperials won't talk to me unless I seel out a certain amount of faction. Right now I'm at 975 Rebel, and like -400+ Imperial. Can't buy FP yet because I'm a "Rebel Sympathiser".

Your best best is to try and get an Imperial Smuggler to buy for you, but that might get a bit tricky with the Overt thing.

I've sold Imp FP to an overt Reb before...so faction status isn't that big of an issue.

But yeah...if you have ANY sort of standing with the Rebellion, such as a high rank, the Imperial recruiters won't talk to you...and vice-versa...

The only way a Imp recruiter would talk to you is if you have less than 200 Rebel faction.

Thanks very much guys,

Thought that might be the case, but ever the opportunist I'm trying to find ways of playing both sides without losing my hard fought rank.

I presume that as a 'neutral' character I could buy faction and perk equipment from each side as long as I kept my fp below 200 for each side when I first start to talk to them...

Maybe that's the way to be able to play both sides?

You have to be a member of the faction to purchase it's perks... so as long as you spend all the faction before you drop it, or you take the time to "Sell Out" whatever remaining faction you have so you can join the opposing faction... Yep you can play both sides.

Don't you get kicked out of the faction if your FPs fall below 200?

Yep, so you could always do that instead of resigning... but the point was that you had to be a part of the faction to purchase it's items.

Oh I was not arguing, just a question that was bugging me.

I'm Colonel, sure don't want to get kicked out because I oversell and fall below 200! So I will be careful. rflmao

You are perfectly right, you have to be a member of a faction to purchase or use perks.

Unless something has changed, this isn't entirely true. Last I knew, if you were close to the 200 pt. mark...like say 210...and you died in PvP, which would drop a Smuggler to 180-190...you didn't lose your faction status. It's been a while since that happened to me though, so something might have changed since then.

You can't fall below 200 with delegating btw.

Another note...

The system prevents you from /del-ing points that would drop you below the 200 pt. mark...

So, if I have 300 points, and try to /del 100, I get a message that I lack the 118 points necessary to /delegate.
