I give up. This is what SOE wants, and I guess I'm going to give it to them. I'm going to join a faction. Not for the faction, not even to finally have something worthwhile happen whenI fail a scan (even though that hardly ever happens). I'm joining because my best friend needs the protection. He's pretty much a straight non combat character (a shipwright and our group's merchant). He enjoys what he does a lot, he just doesn't have it in him to grind up another Pilot tree to stay neutral. I'm loyal to my friends, especially this one, so I'm going Rebel to cover his but when he needs it, and I'm hoping that the Imperials have planetary control on the Radiant galaxy.

With that said, how many of you Smugglers plan on dropping their current faction if / when they ever implement criminal factions? Will the new status of pilot professionshold you to what you're currentlydoing?

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Depends...

I would be glad to join a criminal org if there is some benefit that outweighs my AT-ST

Realisticlly, it depends on where my guild is at the time. If there is someone else to cover buying Factioned items, then I will switch without a second thought. If the guild still needs my "skills" then I will stay Imp.

Personally, I would like to go criminal.

My proposal, make a criminal org, and give master smugglers the ability to experiment on their slices. In turn, any master smuggler who chooses to do so, is given "visibility" like jedi get and will be put on BH terms.

Im not going into any more depth than this for now.

I got a whole rp story tieing me to the imperial faction and just exactly why I'm a smuggler for the empire. The only problem is that's changed slightly that I'm now a non-combat smuggler. I've basicly retired from combat and taken up a desk job My daughter Tig has taken up the adventures but she a bounty hunter Bah...

I don't think I'd go criminal I like breaking the laws, espeicaly since I am the law

Pilot stuff doesn't affect me. I'm a ground Imp and a space Privateer, Smuggler's Alliance.

I haven't gotten much into the faction purchasing part of Smuggler ever. I haven't needed to with Aelik, and I just didn't care with my Smuggler I used to have on Eclipse -- especially since I was Rebel.

I took up Imp w/ Aelik, because my coworkers I play with were all Imperial, and I had done the "Rebel thing" before. I worked a way out to explain my little hooligan Rodian is helping the prejudiced human Empire, but I'm not loyal at all.

With the fp cap removed for buying fp from the recruiters, I finallybought my way tocolonel last night.Between my master smugglerness, my colonelness, and the removed fp buying cap, my guild now has a very functional supply officer.

The way I figure it, a supply officer who specializes in 'creative aquisitions' would mesh very well with the Imperial beurocratic corruption. With enough credits, my Imperial brethren can now cut a lot of administrative corners. Just go talk to Cmdr. Tr'Bo'akh; he'll take care of you.But don't ask him HOW he got your order filled... he doesn't like those kinds of questions.

And when he gets captainship of a Decemator... well, let's just say that a military vessel makes 'creative aquisitions' and 'freelance trading' much more lucritive. And if the top brass start poking their noses where they shouldn't, enough credits can usually deter them.

So, nope. I'll always be Imperial. It's too much fun!

I got scanned and found to be rebel yesterday and got shot instantly, so for protection you don't have to do it.... Seems smugglers are just as scannable now as others are ???

It was mentioned in an earlier post here that if the criminal factions worked like the GCW (or is that GSW? - Damn - I'm just not getting tired of that one yet!) then I'd look into it, but for me to drop out of the Empire - it's gotta be worth my while content wise otherwise why bother.

So to answer your question - Maybe!

This is exactly how I feel about the whole thing. It just feels good to be able to convert people's cash into imperial hardware that wouldn't exist otherwise. I bought the faction to build a series of 12 bases on lok once that was just glorious when completed and depressed when brought down by exploiters. (sigh) Anyway in the new system where placing bases will be a responsibility of all loyal faction members because of the GCW well to quote "I expect to be well paid".

I am a Master Smuggler/Imp/Colonel and look forward to this opportunity to be a "supplier" in my guild. 'Creative Acquisitions" I like that and have to use that phrase.
