rofl, this was a funny thread.. I think it'd be cool, there are so many players that I don't think that doing such acts would truly hurt the player as far as the community is concerned. I know a Smug is not a Thief, but in this game its the closest profession to being such. Was just curious if anybody went that route and tried to do it. I wish SOE wasn't so controlling... but at times it comes in handy... guess the bad comes with the good
I wouldn't mind there being theft in this game, just under a new profession.

Has anybody actually thought to be an actual smuggler / theif. Stealing what you can as far as weapons, armor, (even pieces with ADKs) etc, when asked to slice them? Is this agains the rules for SOE? I think it would fit the role quite well.

I'd much rather be a thief than a theif honestly, although frankly the only thing in life that's worse than a liar is a thief!

I think this question needs to some how be pushed up to a CSR, maybe I'll do that when I get home... probably gonna take a week for a response though as tickets are overwhelming because of respec stuff right now.

It's called player harrasment if you do it..trust me someone on Valcyn did it way back in the beginning of the game and got banned. His defense was "but they gave me the gun" didnt work out too well. Oddly though if someone is placed on admin in a house they can clear the place out and csr's will do nothing!
Plus why would a person ruin their reputation that way..being a bit underhanded is one thing, but something like this will cause a whole server to dislike you. Then come vendor bans, cantina bans, city bans, and so on..that isnt good. /shrug Guess I look at the practical side of things.

yeah it's definitely a no-no.
things like theft and other such free thinking ideas would be great in a game like this. but for that to work, those free thinking ideas need to include punishment for acting in a criminal way.
and unfortunately SOE and every other MMORPG producing company from what i understand, are terrified of allowing such freedom in their games, because they don't want to deal with lawsuits and they want everyone to be happy at all times and not face too much of a challenge in their game play experience.
i can't wait till someone releases a fully free-form MMORPG.

Smuggler != thief
Absolutely, 100% not true, and you know it.
Are you just trying to provoke me?

What about refusing to give back sliced items when the costumer refuses or is unable to pay? Is that harasment?
That is probably a case by case issue, but I don't thnk it is most cases. If anything it would be the item's owners harrassment of the Smuggler to not pay for an agreed upon service.
