Now, for those of you who don't remember, there was an issue a while back, when JTL launched. JTL included several missions that involve smuggling of goods and or people, and some of the missions even refer to it specifcally as smuggling. One of the NPCs will even call you a Smuggler, even if you are simply an SA pilot.

JFreeman, JTL Dev guy, who did all the scripting for those NPCs and those missions, made a post (that has since dissappeared), in which he explained that the smuggling in JTL was smuggling, and not Smuggling. The difference he explained, was that smuggling missions, were simply a delivery mission, in space, in which you were possibly ambushed and had to run or fend off your attacker to successfully complete the mission. Smuggling missions, however, would involve player interaction, including contraband, and bounties.

I had forgotten about this until a post today about everyone getting to use Camo kits in the next publish. That then got me thinking about it, so I went back to the IC thread, and went over it, and realized, we've been hoodwinked. The Smuggling missions for us as a profession add some superficial artifice like receiving "contracts" from npcs, rather than missions, from npcs... and "rival smugglers" attacking us to take our cargo, rather than JUST pirate npcs. In fact, the only NEW addition that differentiates OUR Smuggling from JTL smuggling, is bounties. NPC BOUNTIES!

I am hereby registering my protest of the so-called "Smuggler Experience" aspect of the Smuggler revamp. The Devs have once again attempted to use the weapons of time and deception to not do any significant work towards making our profession what it ought to be, and I feel they have no right to get away with it this time.

I've been proclaiming what you just posted about since those two smuggler revamp documents were released. And I was bashed for it.

heh, I'm a bit of an airhead, sometimes the hamster wheel doesn't spin as fast as it ought to.
