Thread: I thought we can Reverse/Reslice weapons/armor?
Yep.
You're missing something.
What you're missing is that they took down the In Concept thread that described what might have been a really GOOD slicing system. Then they gave us THIS instead after we discussed the In Concept one to death over a 5 month period of time.
Notice they also took down the In Concept post about SMUGGLING content...that can't be a good sign.

/sigh
Why do they continue to NOT listen to the community and continue to do what THEY want. I think they forget who pays the bills.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Of course they did, but honestly... the devs are working hard to make smugglers a "fun" and "exciting" profession.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

For the "who pays the bills" comment...I don't think they've forgotten at all.
SOE pays the devs, not us.
SOE has to deal with LucasArts.
LucasArts deals with George Lucas.
Lucas loves Jedi, so LA loves Jedi
Which means SOE loves Jedi
Which means devs do more Jedi stuff then the rest of us or they get fired.
Some concepts are more difficult to code in then others, and the slicing system isn't bad at all...just unpredictable with parts dropping. I fail to see how this slicing system sucks, I actually enjoy it.
The only thing I wish we'd have seen was old sliced weapons saying "this weapon has obviously been tampered with" in the info box...because now we have to worry about people buying pre-sliced weapons that don't say they've already been sliced. These people come to us for slices, we (at least I know I do) charge higher prices for the slices because of part rarity...but the weapon won't slice and now we get hate tells because they don't believe we can't slice their weapon since there's no customization % on the info box.
Ummm, did you read the original concept docs for slicing that they posted? If they would have stuck with the original idea it would have been a much more in depth and interactive process. Plus they had the concept of breakage as well that gave the Smuggler even more worth as a profession, plus added to the interactivness (word?) of combat because you had to pay attention to your weapons condition. The new system is just a dumbed down slight variation of the old. All this, as is SOE's typical process, was thrown out after almost six months of talking and getting the Smugglers input and then BAM! right at the time it was supposed to all happen, the concept docs dissappeared and the new simplified slicing system (which is still borked) was introduced with very little communication beforhand as too what the new system was going to be like. Once again SOE's true nature is exposed and we are left with our mouths hanging open saying "WA HAPPEN!" , and should we at all be surprised? No, but once again we were. I guess we just enjoy being repeatedly kicked in the teeth.
But hey, glad your enjoying the new slicing system.
BTW your right, SOE pays the Devs and we in turn pay SOE so I guess we do pay the bills. But I'm sure you already figured that out.

An actual in game incident in Tatooine two nights ago.
Player: "Looking for Master Smuggler to slice weapons"
Me: /tell "I'm at the bazarr terminals."
player: /reply "k, omw."
Player: "Hello, u a master smuggler?"
Me: "Yes, do you have the components for the slices?"
Player: "Yup, took me three days with a krayt hunting group to get them."
Me: "k, what weapons you need sliced?"
Player: "I have my laser rifle, it's capped and i want to get damage slices for it, and then I got my scatter pistol I would like to get sliced for damage and speed."
Me: "Oooh, hate to break it to ya, but if your rifle is capped i can't slice it any higher. Is your pistol capped?"
Player: "What, your shi*tin me right. Smugglers can't slice above cap?"
Me: "Nope, welcome to the new improved slicing system."
Player: "That sucks, I spent three days getting the components."
Me: "Sorry to hear that, you still want your pistol sliced."
Player: "I guess, how good are the slices."
Me: "2,4, and 8% respectively. If you have the components I can get you a tier three slice. However I must warn you that the slicing seems to be borked."
Player: "What do you mean?"
Me: "It seems that the slicing system is not working as intended, we should get an 8% slice for say tier3 , but it's not coming out to that, it's more like 4-5%. Same with the lower end slices. You still want a slice."
Player: "One sec"
[at this point I think he was doing the math]
"NVM, it wouldn't even be worth it, they really screwed your sh*t up didn't they?"
Me: "Yup, now is supposed to be more interactive and fun."
Player: "I feel for you smugglers, sorry. Man I can't believe I wasted 3 days for this sh*t when I could have been doing quests. Thanks anyway. Cya."
Me: "NP, sorry I couldn't help ya out. Take care."
Player: /tip 5000 "For your time, thanks."
Me: "Thank you."
[at this point he heads for the starport]
Me: /tell "BTW, if you haven't already checked, look into PUPs for your weapons. The better ones give around +160 damage and last for 500 uses. They are also fairly cheap by the crate. That's what I use."
Player: /reply "K, thanks. You want to buy the components I have?"
Me: /reply "No thanks."
Player: /reply "K, guess I'll sell them on the bazzar, doubt i'll get very much for them."
