Thread: Armor Slices a Joke?

Cool, I always wanted to use 2 pieces of ultra-rare loot to get 3% chance x 50% mitigation = 1.5% on average effectiveness slice.

I much prefer getting raped by the uber-looters on component price, so I can charge my customers 100x what I used to, so I can can tell then they got a 1.5% effectiveness slice, than the old system. I mean come on, a garunteed slice that enhances the effectivness!!! YES!!!

Well if you consider you can get all 4 level 1 slices for free its not a half bad boost considering everyone was too afraid to slice their armor at all before.

Well that is good news. I heard someone say they tested it out and it wasn't working. But if it is thats certainly helpful.
And I wasn't arguing that the slices used to be overpowered (armor in general was in fact). The point is it was reduced A LOT even just compared to the reduction weapons got.

True, but that's the danger we face. If slicing is too good then the systems start to break. Yeah, the armor slices aren't stellar, but they're worth doing IF the components start getting easier to find. If I'm doing the math right a level 3 impact deflection makes your armor last 30% longer. How much would that be worth on a set of RIS or factional armor?

Can you slice wookiee armor at all? I tried and slice comes up in the radial menu but it doesn't give me any options. Is it maybe because it is pre-cu armor? Has anyone tried this?

Yes you can slice wookiee armor, Granted mine is post CU And it is already taken apart into the chest, and extra two pieces now. But I was able to slice all pieces of my armor. turned out pretty good also, I like the dmg mitigation. that is a great thing. Especially since it seems all the AS's on my server have gone into hiding I haven't found anyone selling wookiee armor at ALL on sunrunner.

Sure that's all fine and dandy, but the point is even the level 3 slices (without taking into account their ridiculous loot cost) are terrible on armor. I really don't think they turned out half bad on weapons. 8% damage is reasonable. It's about a third of what we could get before. Armor slicing is about 6% of what we used to get.

It seems a bit unbalanced, to the point of not even being worth it. You will probably pay (or have to charge) hundreds of thousands of credits for what is basically a 1.5% effectivness slice. Or you can do a 0.5% slice for free. But either one of those sounds prettyworthless.

Oh, you mean its not as good as overpowered pre-CU sliced armor? Yeah I agree with you there.

I agree that the damage reduction slice isn't worth doing, but the armor break reduction one works really well and the decay reduction is good too.

The deflection slices go on all my armor now. It makes the armor last quite a lot longer. This post makes me wonder because I was thinking the exact opposite, that the range of slices we can do on armors is much better and more useful than before. The mitigation slices seem to be a bit on the low side of percentages but that isn;t the only thing we can do. The armor break slices are awesome for PVP suits too.

It definately works. We tested it today...someone did a head hit on my helmet without the armor break...then we did it with his armor break on mewhich added roughly200 to the damage...then I switched helmets to one with the same stats and the armor break slice and the extra damage was only around 60.
