Where do we get simple tool kits? and what else do smugglers need for the more advanced slices?

Well they're fairly easy to come by, the secret is weapon upgrade kits. As far as I can tell when you use the salvage option, 9 times out of 10 you get a simple or finely crafted toolkit. I seem to recall getting a couple Illegal Core Boosters and Trigger Assemblies, though now all I draw are the toolkits. There are tons of weapons upgrade kits still out there after the conversion so finding them shouldn't be too hard.
