Hello my Smuggling brothers and sisters!
So, once again I've taken a little time off from the game (and unfortunatley the forum as well). First started a new job and didn't have as much time to get in game, and then when I've had time my comp has been acting all funky. I'm in the process of formatting (way too much adware, spyware and worthless programs to delete otherwise) and reinstalling, but hopefully will have a chance to be back in game sometime next week. There's two things I was hoping people could help me with:
A) If anyone knows upon deleting SWG, what files I need to backup to avoid a 6-hour download fest.
B) What all has changed in game since I've been away. My last login was about the beginning of June or so, so I was around when RotW came out. I think the new slicing system was about to come on line as well, but haven't heard anything since. Any major changes to the game? To the profession? Who from the forum is still around and who are our newest dearly departed?
Any info you guys can pass along to me would be great. I've missed you all (except for you Jedi-lurker, you know who you are)

Welcome back
.
Changes include a lovely new system for Creature Handlers (so yay
), sprused up loot and NPCs for BH missions, a few fixes for slicing and, while not in game, a post or two from Tiggs letting us know Smuggling has been put on the back burner while they fix bugs and do other important things.
Anyway, glad to have you with us again

Its odd, smuggler is the same now as it is when you left.. though maybe you left a bit before slicing, so that technically would be different i guess... But you did know about it!

A ton of people left.. Spinning, Veela, Keck, Angus, maybe a dozen others. New slicing's got its negatives and its positives, but it's probably better overall than it was before.
And I for one did miss the voice of reason you always bring to this forum.

I missed you, with all the old timers we have recently lost we need all we can get.

I am really trying to wrap my brain around what you said TomoRainer, but it just doesn't make much sense at all. The system is more borked now than before the slicing 'fix'.
- Our caps are lower than the crafting caps, so it is better to go to a store and buy an item than have a smuggler even look at it.
- The results of our slicing are 66% lower than before the 'fix'.
- Because of the loot-drop system to get our supplies, it now costs, on average, 7291% more to pay for the slice - so the economy involving slicing isruined - and I'm not evenmentioning the impact it had on Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths.
- The loot-drop system has our characters needing to act more like Rangers and Bounty Hunters - tracking down all these MoB's so that we can get the supplies to do the only skill that remotely resembles what smugglers do. By the way, the skills we get in combat are not as great as they made them out to be and I never saw Han Solo looking for tools inside the Tauntaun belly.
- BUT HEY! We can choose the type of slice we want to perform.
Please tell me when20% became a passing grade. If this were a test in school, this would mean that the student didn't even spell his name correctly.
Yes, a voice of reason is needed in the forum. An even greater need is at SOE.
