Thread: Old slicing tools?

Hey guys, my alt used to be a smuggler, but isnt anymore.....and today I just found that I had a whole bunch of crates of the old slicing tools (precision laser knives and such). So, I was just wondering if these are complete junk now, or is there a way to convert them to be useable in the new system? I didnt see anything new on the radial menu, so I dont know if it still is possible, or if it ever was.
And sorry if this has been asked before, I looked quickly through the FAQ, and ran a search, but I didnt find anything on the subject. Thanks

AUKs and WUKs can be converted into the new loot components (There's an option for it on the radial menu). Clamps and PLKs are useless now.

AUKs and WUKs can be converted, Clamps, FANs, and PLKs are worthless. I suggest haning on to them for another year or two and then selling them as rare collectables to nostalgic Smugglers.

Is there a chance of them decidingn to give us a salvage option one day for knives and clamps? I know it was mentioned to "hang on to them for a while" in case it happen, but I guess by now it won't.
I have crates upon crates of both. Guess I should clean up the shop.

I'm still hanging on to my clamps and knives just in case. You never know with SOE.

With the prices of slicing tools dropping faster than a sick Kaadu amidst a pack of Razor Cats....there's really little 'need' to hang onto the clamps and knives. It won't be long until the top slices are under 100K again.

I know many people would like it to be possible to salvage from the knives/fans/clamps...
But really, think about it... How in heck would you possibly salvage a weapon enhancing component from something that was used to cut a wire and check an electric current?
AUK and WUK salvage make sense, anything else does not. A rare case where the logic in this game is right.

You do have a great point there. lol
Just asked because it would not be fun to get rid of crates of the stuff to be told in a month "oh btw they are salvagable now" or "oh btw, every crates of clamp / FAN / knives you destroy now give you 1k credits" (that would be more logical but it won't happen. Not that it would mean a lot of cash, SWG standard wise lol)
So I will destroy most of what I have and keep a crate or two of both for old time sake. Not that big a deal.

Selling them off, at, say, the jawa junk dealers would be a comprimise. not likley though, is it?

Not likely. Would be a logical fun use of our Jawa minigame tho. Ah well.
