Thread: What would have to be done for a REAL revamp
We need an actual Underworld feel. We need to feel like we're being hunted by the Empire and law enforcement, both on ground and in space.
There should be a chance Stormtroopers or city police will come and jump you when you land at a starport or walk down a city street.
We need missions that not only grant credits, but nice rewards as well, but have a chance of failing. There should always be risk to take.
We need to be able to Smuggle in space. Whether that means we aren't allowed public transportation nor may we travel with our starships are are required to launch into space and fly to the planet where our contact is (with a chance of getting attacked in space), or to meet a contact in space (and have a chance of getting attacked, again).
We need to feel that we're the "scum of the galaxy", that we're rouges, outlaws.
We need missions that are fun, replayable, and interesting. Something that will make you want to do the missions.
We need Smuggler space skills, such as being able make our ship temporarily invisible to radars, and things like that.
We need to be able to slice our own ships to increase their mass, or give POB ships a third weapon slot that only the pilot can fire.
When smuggling in space, there should be a chance our ship gets attacked and disabled, and the NPC attacker docks with our ship and appears inside. We then have to fight it out inside our ship. NPCs could range from bounty hunters, local law enforcement, hired thugs, and such. Of course, this would only work for POB ships. This could also work for player bounties as well.
POB ships should always be our main mode of transportation. It should be rare to see a Smuggler in a starfighter.
POB shipsshould have a "cargo hold" for Smuggler that starfighters do not have. Or perhaps higher-paying missions would have heavier cargo, which would be too heavy for starfighters. But, of course, POB ships would need to be pilotable solo.
We need a use in groups. We need some new combat skills that make us different from any other profession, but keep the feel of "Smugglerish", and dirty skills. Add the knockdown back to Low Blow, for one.
We should get some kind of bonus for sitting in cantinas, "drinking", and acting like Smugglers. Perhaps this is a temporary buff to our defences, or a pay increase in our next mission.
We need a special Smuggler ship-- like theship in the Smuggler's Run painting-- that's a POB ship, but allows us to Smuggle solo in it. It should have a pilot-controlled weapon or two. This should be a Smuggler-only ship.
We just simply need to be able to do more "underworld" things. We need more things to slice, we should be able to get information about the Empire/Alliance and sell this information to NPCs, we should be able to "steal" things, we should be able to hack terminals such as the bazaar and bank, we should be able to talk to NPCs and use our Fast-Talking skills to pursuade them to do something for us/give us something.
Scans need to be increased, and Smugglers should have to Fast-Talk their way out of it. Instead of a simple "avoiding scan", we should actually have to use a dialouge box to talk with the NPC, and depending on what we say in the conversation, we may get punished or set free.
We should be able to get "arrested" by the Empire/Rebellion if we're careless. This would bring us to an instanced jail cell where we have to pay a fee to get out, fast-talk our way out, or fight our way out. Each way should have it's own risk and rewards.
We need new Smuggler-only pistols that are compareable to Pistoleer quest pistols. I don't care if we get these pistols through quests or if they're craftable by Weaponsmiths.
We should be able to slice and customize our own pistols, such as changing the body, capacitor, and things like that, which would have a cosmetic effect on the weapon. We should also be able to change the bolt color. The weapon, though, should retain its original design. For example, we could customize our FWG5, and while it would still have the look of an FWG5, we could make a bigger barrol on it, make a longer and thinner grip, a bulkier body,make the blaster bolt purple, and paint theblaster gold.Customizing a blaster like this would make it untradeable and could only be stored in top-level inventory.
If we wish for it, player Bounty Hunters should be able to comehunt us.
