Thread: Help a new smuggler
As for which ones to use, it depends on your template and your inclination.

Hey guys,
I reached Novice Smuggler for about 2 weeks ago but I haven't had thetime to play as much as I've wanted to.
For the moment I'm 11x1 Smuggler and x1xx Pistoleer and soon to be Novice Combat Medic. What attacks do other Smugglers/Pistoleers use the most?
Which attacks is good for what? I'm using Modal Chat so I use the numpad keys for my attacks, or that's where I put the most important ones but the problems is that I don't know whichis the most importantattacks.
Maybe you guys could help me?
I went through trying to figure this out myself recently, so just soem general tips...like all ranged professions, you want to root/snare and keep as far away as possible (in this case, as pistoleer/smuggler, not very). Use overwhelming shot to lower resistance to state effects..then I like low blow followed by restraining shot.
After that I pour on damage withimp. leg shot (carb attack-not sure what the equivelant is in pistoleer, but whatever the highest damage shot is...) until I start to run low on action, then switch to placed shot (lower action usage). I try to keep the above states in effect at all times, and if the critter gets to close I try to knock him down (use whatever your best knockdown is), panic shot him (and immedietly STOP SHOOTING) and run away. Obviously, I don't shoot at him again untill I've run max distance.
For my action bar, I keep all of these in the attack areas of the bar, and I keep all the state recoveries, feign death (generally usefull against mobs, but not much else) and last ditch (the name says it all, this is just as likely to get you killed as to kill the critter your using it on) well away from my attacks. I DO NOT use auto attack on any creature...it's way to easy to break your own crowd control state effect, and these have the potential to really save your b***.
Very true. The first and most important thing to understand is, that as a Smuggler, your 2 most important attacks are concussion shot and panic attck. They render your target completely useless for the duration of the attack. They do, however, break on damage. It is important for 2 reasons.
1) As Talansen stated, It makes it very important not to have "auto"attack activated. It could undo a concussion shot and get you killed.
2) Do not use DoT(Damage over Time)attacks with Concussion or Panic shots. They will also break the effect
As far as pistoleer goes, grind teir 4 ASAP. Between the AoE and the Stopping shot, that is the best tier in the profession.
