Don't remember the PCP ever saying it had an AoE, but I've never used one. The only pistol that I know of that for sure has AoE is the Launcher pistol, which is level 14 / novice commando cert. Does squat for damage, but comes in handy if you need to mezz a bunch of things all at once to get away.

The launcher pistol recently saved my rear when I decided to take on a NPC base by myself just to see if I could do it. Started by killing part of the NPC's outside, then made a run for the inside. Before I knew it, I was swarmed and my mind bar was dropping faster than the NPC's were. Switched to my LP, did a Concussion shot, then unquiped it as I made a run for it. Had two follow me outside that evidently didn't get hit by the mezz, but by that time I had enough distance from the base to feign.
