Just in case anyone doesn't see it, I just stuck this in the In-Concept Discussion Thread


I know there have been some 'answers' given already to the Smugglers, but here's something I thought of today.
Maybe it's been brought up before (I've never read the whole GM revamp threads) so forgive me if that's the case.

One of our skillsets revolves around Faction standing.
We can buy or sell reputation with both Factions.
According to the official descriptions:

Underworld III:
A Smuggler is motivated by two things: survival and profit. Sometimes it's necessary to change sides in a conflict to achieve those goals. With the "Selling Out" skill, a Smuggler can trade faction points for cash at any opposing faction recruiter.

Underworld IV:
A Smuggler's work puts him in contact with a lot of people in high places. A Smuggler can draw upon these connections to improve his standing with various organizations....at a price.

By itself, this doesn't really help us much.
Since there is no functional GCW, anyway. (I think I've only been scanned 3-4 times since I started over a year ago, minus a 3 month break)

True, anyone can delegate FPs, but we are obviously set up to be brokers in this commodity.
We can buy it from recruiters/officers, and we get discounts on perks.

We are hindered by the delegate ratios and point caps.
In order for us to actually get good ratios, we must be high ranking officers, forcing us to choose a side, which rather negates the idea of being able to play off both sides of the War.
Changing sides is prohibitivly expensive or time consuming, or both.

I'm sure the amount of (lack of) 'profit' we get from selling FP to recruiters has been brought up before.

The way I see it, either the profit from selling should be increased to something close to what we buy it for, perhaps 80%-90%, or we should get a full points cap and rate at some point in the Underworld line.

Changing the profit from selling to recruiters is obviously the easier change to make, but I would accept either one.

Doesn't make any difference with the AFK grinders but at least it would be a useful skill.
Super easy to implement too.

As I said, I'm betting it's been brought up before, but I guess I'm feeling a bit optimistic at the moment, and I figured, while they're at it...

My SWG Observations

If they stopped the expansions for one year and gave quality revamps to the professions that need it most, many people would resubscribe.
With all the resubs, and the new players, there would then be plenty of money to hire enough people to do 2-4 quality revamps per year plus 1-2 larger expansions per year and/or 2-4 smaller expansions per year, and not give the BigWigs a pay cut. (Possibly even an increase)

I'll say one thing... I've been scanned more times in a week on TC than I have a year on live. I'm wondering if they adjusted the scan rates or something, because I'm getting a ton of probot drop/scans there now. There's also many, many more stormtrooper shuttle drops going on there too.
