Thread: Smuggler missions better involve spaceships and smuggling...
Of course the smuggler can choose to fly the package there by himself, or hire a pilot to do it. In that case, the Starport officials won't be so strict (assuming the ship carries other cargo or something like that), however, most of the scanning will take place in space. Also, pirates and competitive smuggler rings might be interested in the package...
Just my 2 cents...

Thanks Wes! Those smuggler missions sound great, just that it has to involve JTL and in a greater way than selecting travel on the starship terminal.

or I'll bereally disappointedif it doesnt. I can't imagine a ground game only smuggling thing where you go to point A and B on a bike or public transportation. That would be absolutely the biggest letdown ever in this game! In the movies and the novels, all smugglers use their spaceships for smuggling, nothing else! Smuggler is a space-centric profession!
A pity this is of no concern to SoE.
I want the travel option removed to where you have to manually fly out into space. Once there, you have to make it a certain distance out from the planet to jump into hyperspace while Imperial starfighters or pirates fly in and try to scan you. If you run they fight back and chase you.Create a skill or let a fake transponder give you a 50-50 chance to hide your cargo. Maybe give an option tojettison the cargo into space and use a tractor beam to pull it back in after the ships have passed by. Let the cargo be stored in a cargo hold like we have for space mining, or create secret compartments that fit in the cargo hold slot. Then do all of this on a timer so it can be really hectic!
A sound idea that should be rather easy to implement.
All of this is taken from Star Wars movies, games and novels. I did not make up one thing that wasn't pulled from another Star Wars resource. This is how I want to smuggle. Just like in Star Wars. I also bet that most of you want it this way too. Lets make sure the Devs realize we want it this way, or we are going to end up with glorified delivery missions that make you fight a few NPCs at the end.

I don't know if you guys already know this but there is a space smuggling mission in game already. You have to be a smuggler to take it, go to talus space station and ask for a job when there ask if they have something special for you to do, can't remember the exact convo option but you should be offered a job to transport some cargo. When you get it it starts a reletivly low lvl mission which is quite good fun. You will pick up cargo from one space ship and have to transport it to another. There are a serries of deliveries in which you will get jumped by imperial patrols and bandits all trying to space you and take your cargo.
Try it out its quite good fun as I said and it's worth it just to see the word smuggling in the quest journal.

Yknow wes, there are a TON of cool looking derelict stations in space that would make great drop off points for cargo. make landing at em possible and npc trade available in a nice indoor environment.

I did that mission; which begs me to ask "why" cant there be more like them? It's already in the game. We arent asking for new Ubber weapons,to be better than xy Profession,we're asking for something that the game should have had on it's release day...content.
