Thread: Sorry to have to do this...

But with the fixes they made to commando, I will be dropping smuggler to re-grind commando.

I thought I was one of the hardcore smugg, and never quit waiting for a revamp, but lately finding myself in this prof only to slice my own gear, and the gear of my guildmates. But now that we have annother member going for msmuggler, I feel I need something to keep me a bigger threat for pvp.

I don't know if this makes me a sellout, but waiting for smug love is the same as waiting for Miss Portman to knock on my door asking me to marry her.

Don't do it.


Speaking as a 2.5 year commando...don't.


What they did, was add some spit and polish, not fix commando, not make commando more "survivable". Not being more "Commando"..


All it was was a fixing of some mechanics, and adding a carrot to keep us going as commandos. without a role, without a Star Wars connection.


Smuggler on the other hand..works, and have plans for being updated and brought up to have a Star Wars connected role in SWG.

To be fair, I'm gonna wait for pub 24 to go live(however long that would take, they did not give us an ETA on the delay) before actually dropping anything.


TBH, I was gonna drop it for rifleman, but had a slight change of heart when I read the commando updates.



But I think it would be prudent to wait for pub 24

Why not just create a character on TC to test it out? You get double xp there, so it really doesn't take too awefully long. My character there is level 48 after about a week's worth of griding, and to be honest I haven't been pushing very hard. That's been mainly solo missions and some space mixed in to make credits.


I've been trying to grind out a Carb / Smuggler temp I've been curious about, and so far it seems pretty good - crowd control and damage.



By the way, publish 24 has been postponed for now if you haven't read it already. Just too many bugs right now, not even close to being ready for live in my opinion.

Yeah, what I've been aiming for is M smuggler / M carbs / Pistols 0002 / novice commando / medic 0010. So far on that char I only have carbs 2421, smuggler 2121, novice commando, and pistols 0002. The long cooldown on stopping shot kinda irks me, but other than that it seems to fair well. At level 48 I'm having no problems whatsoever clearing outposts like the Talus and Dantooine imp outposts, as long as I stay away from the AT-ST's. Having 3 cone attacks is kind of fun - full auto area, fan shot, and supression fire. I've noticed if I put my auto attack on supression fire and just alternate that with fanshot / full auto area I can basicly just run circles around things while killing them as long as they don't have a ranged attack.


I'll have to see how these medic action cost changes play out in live though... it's starting to look like ruby + stims might be the way to go instead. That would free up even more points to spend in pistols for even more crowd control.
