I wrote this in the Jedi forum to "educate" those of us Jedi who tend to whine instead of use a single noodle in their brain:
Here is how to counter and prevent it. You don't have to read the rest of the post, but it is good writting Last Ditch is only effective when a smuggler's health is almost zero. Time your moves to interupt that small window of time when LD can be used well.
- Timing is everything. When his health gets low, make sure yours is fully healed.
- Try to KD them right before their health gets low. It takes skill, but roots, snares, statis will help you do this easy.
- Use Defender's defense boosts. BH/Smugglers have crappy accuracy. The shot has good chance to miss and the accuracy difference will cut the damage A LOT!
- If the shot does land and does manage to incap you, you will be down for about 5 seconds or so, leaving little window for them to get a DB. LD takes ALL of a smuggler/BH's HAM away which means once you stand up and heal, they won't be able to heal or fight!!!
- Use AI if you suspect someone will use LD.
- You can tell smugglers by their specific weapons. Many BH who use pistols might also have smuggler skills. If you see Concussion or Panic Shot also being used to daze you, odds are they have Last Ditch as well.
I am finding little problems with the Smuggler's Last Ditch move, and it kinda bothers me how we call for it to be nerfed, especially given how easily it can be countered.
Pulling off the move takes quite a bit of timing and luck. If you see a BH you suspect is a smuggler, just ensure that when his health is nearly gone that you pop off a heal and get yourself to full health first. Use your snares and roots to move in close if possible and administer a KD.
Given the extremely high defenses of Defender and the poor accuracy of a BH/Smuggler template, odds are good that the shot will miss anyways. Even if it does hit and you have healed to full health, the accuracy difference will cut the damage done by the shot A LOT.
If you can get the KD off, then you are in even better shape.
If the shot does land and manages to incap you, then you will be incapacitated for only 5 seconds. Most BH aren't standing on you when drop, so they will not get the DB off. When you stand, immediately heal and attack the BH/smuggler. He/she will have ZERO HAM because they are drained of all health, action, and mind, which means they can't heal of fight. Then.... kill them.
LD is not that big of a problem guys and gals. You can prevent its use and if you maintain full health and defenses/armor, the likelyhood of it one-shot incapping you goes WAAAY down. Even if you do go down, odds are very strong that you can get back up in time and kill your BH before they can DB you!!!

A seeming contradiction, eh? Facts go hand in hand in what we precieveas "reality". But, I'm pretty sure Ternque is taking all doubt away form Jedi, and all others, that Last Ditch is overpowered. Maybe you read otherwise?

A BH is not your aggressor until they take the first shot
So they are fully 100% healable until they fire. And if that first shot is last ditch after I just gave 'em an extra 1k of health I'll be one amused blue fish. Even more amused than when a BH opened on me with last ditch when they had full health.Someone should teach these people to take the bubble wrap off of their shinny new smuggler "I Win" button before they play with it.
