To start off, I played smuggler during the beta, I played smuggler when I started playing it afew month after it went live (ie pay to beta ) and I have played a smuggler all of my years playing West End Games D6 Star Wars:RPG (of which now out-of-print 100% canon & EUline with (c) Lucasfilm approvals,I now own almost everything).

I mailed GreenMarine when the first talk about the smuggler revamp came up, and tiped off about a few old WEG supplements that alreadyare approved by Lucasfilm and that would cost perhaps a couple of buck to buy from eBay even though Lucasfilm/Lucasart are sure to havemore then one copy of them. I got feedback the same day that was possitivefrom GM, and I started writing upa document about what it is to be a Smuggler in that small gray area of what normally is a black/white universe.

Time past, Iwas stuck at university (still am) and I forgot that part.

However now, I can only see this as a huge failure. Starting offwith weapon/armor slices shouldn't have been a part off the smuggler profession from the start, and the same with spices, but that I had overcome, and what I wanted to see was improvments inthose areas, like being able to expriement on our tools and spice.Well do I feel silly withabout a gazzilion resources savedfor slicing tools/spices sitting in my basement and I am sure notthe only one.

The new system isn't to faulty after all,I like parts of it, some I don't, and I am pretty sure my fellow smugglersalready know which ones I willtalkabout.

The new tools. The insane new lootable tools. The tools that for some reason Nightsister has, the tools forsome reason krayt dragons uses for toothpicks.

Seriously, I have seen what happens when new members of the devteam has come, and when the overallgamedesigners & alike suddenly has gotten ideas into theirheads. Does any dev check things against canon/EU database anymore? Guess that went out the window when some BRIGHT guy unleashed the grasshopper invasion that is the Jedi. A highnumber of Jedis I know that unlocked using the "grind profession 'til you drop" methodsold away their accounts or just left the game when they no longer was rare, or a great proof you was dedicated. With grenade combat xp grinds and the double xp craze after CU, Ican firmly say that the Jedi population of Eclipse outnumbers smugglers. I can asume they outnumber master squadleaders, master smugglers & master rangers combined on Eclipse. Yes, it is that bad. True I got the FS branches unlocked if I want to grind my jedi, but no, seriously,I want to be a smuggler, but you guys (and that Iam sadly meening SOE) are making it hard. Just look on the poor entertainers, atleast you stoped seeing entertainers that only grinded it as part of their holocron professions, butnow, just buffing xp%, that will even make those who play entertainer for the social bit very sad.

Anyhow, ranting away as always. Bottom line is, people won't pay theprices for slices, even if thedroprate on will go up in some farfetched tweak, already the market that has had some heavy problems as of latly with totally flooding of creditseverywhare, seeing tool prices going up. Seriously, people wont pay hundreds of thousendsfor slices fora weapon they paid around 50k. 8% maximum of damage, well... what can you say. 8% on a 900 max dam weapon aint much togo head over heals for.

This can only make me sceptical over the next coming changes, arethis game only going towards a jedi only population with a sparse number of bounty hunters going after them? Perhaps, perhapsnot, all I know is thatis was more fun when yousaw a Jedi per week, if you was lucky, then seeing 10 of them while runing from the starport to the cantina, butthere is hope, as of latly people has been more active on their non-pvp chars, and having more fun. Hopefully the trend can happen to us smugglers too, hopefully our "revamp" won't bebutched, perhaps even, they willhire someone with knowledge on how things should be.Someone who can kick some ass and make people understand thatthey must get their act back on track. (*couch* A generic designer with star wars knowledge, someone like me *chouch*)

I will slice for my own needs, mostly armor since thank god, Ihavea 1002w/o pup maxdamage de-10, but I will not continue to sell my services in public, not even in myguild. Why? Well becuse I think it wasabad moving doing the tools loot only, andsecondly I don'twant other crafters to get their profession ganked like this. Imagine Weaponsmiths needing just to loot components, and belive me the idea has sertenly been talked about.

This is my small protest, but it will most likly be unnoticedby devs atleast.

I feel like a smuggler would transport weapons, and probably heavily mod'd illgeal weapons, so i think slicing is a reallt neat attribute to the smuggler, and is great with RP.

I am a support type charachter. Know being a girl I am a minority, but these are my feelings. I used to buff people's ham, then they borked doctor, so now I buff people's guns. I Enjoy i t, I just WISH my skills actually effected the slice, like if we could crate those kits, and the resources I used mattered. That was what was soooooo neat about crafting, and that's whats annoying about how they make these loot items un-craftable.

True, slicing worksin the game as a profession gimic, but as my canon/EU side goes, I don't think it has a part. I however came into conclusion a long time ago is that we have to improve the things we has been given into this game, and this ain't an improvement.

Your totally right Starphine, we should craft our own tools and have the SKILL and RESOURSES determine the outcome, just like other crafters. GM it isn't to late to change this, and the community would support it.If yourfeeling like a minority becuse your a girl, don't feel like that, we'reall feeling like a minority, us, thefew proud smugglers that still like the profession so much we rather die out with it thenchange

Now I have something demanding to do, drive over tatooine trying NOTto/petevery dewback in sight. (if the old Profession Farmer had made it into the game as intended at first, I would SO have been a dewback farmer/smuggler!)
