Thread: So what if sliced armor and weapons really become illegal?

I was thinking about this a little bit and tried to figure out what exactly would happen. Part of the problem lies in that some people would either have to discard their favorite weapon or face punishment on a regular basis. I think I've come up with the answer though.

Once sliced items become truly outlawed, planetary authory NPCs (to preventRebels from having to go to an Imperial NPC)will be stationed in every city. A player can go to the NPC and have their weapon or armor "fixed" to conform to legal standards. When the item is fixed the the speed or damage range for weapons and the encumberance or effectiveness for armor (player's choice) will lose 15% of it's value.

The key to preventing exploitation is this. Only items prepatch can have this done. And once an item has the fix performed, it cannot be sliced again.

Just a thought that might sidestep some of the arguments of the uncompromising.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

That's a great idea bro. We can tell all those whiners that if they don't like getting in trouble for their uber weapons, that they can just take them back to the cops and have them regulated again. It's the SAME gun, but it's not ILLEGAL!

That would shut them up real quick.

I'd read this and applied it to the other Crackdown post. I was thinking, even after sliced weapons become illegal, instead of just credit fines for contraband or outright confiscation of illegal iteams, what if the items were un-sliced and locked to avoid being sliced again?

that would be GREAT for the Armor smiths and gun smiths who allready do a heck of alot of sales...

maybe if they get caught and the athorities just puta new lock on it that we CAN re-slice but then folks would be getting thier stuff "fixed" so they can get the re-slice they want.

Just make the weapons illegal and then put down a real punishment for having them. For example 1%(could be higher or lower) of someones credits gets fined to them... so if you have 1 million credits you get fined 10k but if you have 100 million credits you get find 1 million credits. Some type of system of fining people that hits everyone equalyhard.

I dont like the idea of having a fixer of sliced weapons. It might work but the people should get slices at their own risk. If they have some weapon that is UBER and it is already slice then they should have to just deal with the consquences and weapons are not supposed to last forever. Plus they should give out a warning well in advance that come next patch or whatever the empire will no longer allow sliced weapons and dish out harsh penalties to people found with them.

I am all for harsh penatlies and making it so slicing means something more then just I have to get this sliced and it has to be 35% damage or the weapon sucks. It would put a value onunsliced weapons as well as on smugglers and there abilities.
