Hit enter too soon

A friend of mine was trying to slice an advance laser rifle that I have but it wouldnt let her, she asked me if it was a pre-cu weapon and I think it is, donno tbh.

Anyways is it not possible to slice pre-cu weapons or is she bugged or something?

This has been asked and answered many times and here is the answer again. If the weapon was sliced prior to the slicing change, not the cu, it no longer says that it was altered by a smuggler. However, though it doesn't say it, it is not sliceable.

There's no such thing as a "pre-CU" weapon. All weapons that existed at the time of the CU were converted and are exactly the same as weapons crafted after the CU.

One interesting thing to note: If you own armor made before the CU, even if it was sliced, you can use the Refit option (if you have not done so already) and choose what type of armor you want it to be now. This will allow you to apply a new slice to it.

I had a suit of uber Composite that was sliced to 90% effectiveness, I just refitted it (from composite to... composite) and it kept the existing resists but allowed me to apply a full level 3 hardening slice to each piece. Sadly, refitting set it from the gorgeous red color it had been to a plain old white, but hey, I like having a chance to mitigate incoming damage
