i dont really mind looking for the best resources. besides its a good opportunity to make money selling those resources. and naturally the farther u r in the spices column the more experimentation points u get. also, if we can reduce the downer time through experimentation, that could bring smugglers more business. most people were scared away from spices when they used moun and/or pixie. if the devs lessen the severity of the downers, maybe we will get some business.

when i got novice smuggler, i was planning to make spices and experiment o make the upper effects high and the downer effect time shorter. unfortunately, spice cant be experimented on. that made me mad. all of the other crafting professions get to experiment on what they create, y should we be denied that same ability. food for thought. does ne1 else feel that smugglers r getting the short end of the deal?

Personally, I don't mind not having to hunt/pay/compete for the best available resources to make spice. Takes way too much time. Now, if we had experimentation that had nothing to do with the quality of the resource but was totally skill-based, that would be ok.

It's going to take more than experimenting and reducing the downer severity to make spice something that sells well again. That's one of the things we're hoping to address in the revamp, whenever that comes about.

Few opinions here....
1. I like to be able to use junk to make my Spice, that way I don't have to compete with everyone else.
2. My Spices have been selling fine...good emergency stuff...that stacks on food, if your already full.
3. Experimentation would be good as a skill, (I've been making Spice so long, I know what works with what the best) not based on resources.
Just my opinion...

IMO
I feel spice should have no part in the Smuggler trees. We could use that spce for other things. Spice was never created BY Smugglers in the SW universe. It was SMUGGLED by Smugglers.
If your going to allow exp. on everything else, it should be for spice as well. But I also agree I'd find the time it takes to harv good resources time consuming and boring.
I do like the idea of it being point or skill based. Master Smugglers will make the best spice, hands down. Novice Smugglers can make the stuff that mess up my pretty boots on the way out...

The crafting system in this game rules, flat out, in most cases. Only problem with it is that the best resources become rare and expensive on servers once the population is pretty old (like 9-12 months)

that is how it should be. master smugglers should hav the most experimentation points, novice should hav the least. more points should be given the farther up the spice column u r.

Thank the makers we dont have to experament for our stuff. I mean I dont want to run around for hours on end trying to find a good deal on high Q materials, then waste a bunch on experamenting trying to get it just perfect. I like to just pick up some cheap arse materials and pop them in my factory and not worrie about it. Save me a lot of time.

AMEN to that! Let some others make the spice, or let us get missions to get a hold of it, but as a smuggler I dont want to become a collage student with chemistry 101 making the "stuff" in my mothers kitchen.

Have you noticed that the spice mines on Rori doesn't contain any spice?

a thought.. spices craftable by chefs/bio-engineers, smugglable by us, and using that 4th newly avbl tree in our profession for more melee/pistol skills and mods? just a thought.
