Thread: Sliced items on vendors can we get an official answer?

Hi there folks -

I, like a lot of my fellow smugglers, take issue with sliced items being available on the Bazaar and Vendors.

It's been suggested many times that a smuggler specific vendor be introduced as part of the underworld line to sell 'contraband' in all its forms.

Whether this comes to fruition or not, I'd like an answer from Caylin (the saintly one), Greenmarine, or in fact anybody in an official/semi -official capacity, as to what the plans are for sliced items on vendors.

As it stands there are whole malls FULL of sliced weapons and armour - this just doesn't make sense. If slicing is illegal then sliced items shouldn't be on normal vendors.Even if Smugglers don't get a specifc vendor, Sliced gear should only be available by talking to a smuggler - the same goes for spices.

I know in the scheme of things wrong in SWG this is pretty minor, but it's really starting to annoy me. The whole point of being a smuggler is being outside the law - wheeling and dealing, being the 'go-to guy' when someone needs something illegal. As it stands , you can go into a mall full of this stuff and never even talk to a smuggler. It's like Woolworths stocking crack cocaine and rocket launchers and no-one noticing......

Please, can we at least get an idea of whether this will be put right?

The Woolworths comment was particulary amusing

Bear in mind though at some point along the line all these pre sliced items on vendors have been sliced by a smuggler.

I do like the idea of underworld vendors, maybe shady back street merchants that only smugglers have access to so the rest of the plaayer base need us to "smuggle" the ilicit items too them? Personaly i think this is how spices hould work rather than craft them as you advance through the spice tree it provides you with access to more "dealers" allowing you to secure better spices.Justa thought

Whats wong with me hiring a Wookiee to sit in the back of my shop and deal illicit goods to people who walk in the door and then take the heat for me if some o good officier comes snooping around. I've built up my empire and have 25mil credits in the bank -- you can't expect me to be out there dealing with people face to face over an illegal blaster or two.

I've mentioned this on the c-forum and even talked about this issue with the merchant correspondent.

However I have received nothing from the devs regarding this issue. I wholeheartedly agree that illegal goods should not be so easily placed on vendors of any kind.

Trying to get anything for the smugglers over the past year has been a chore. Even the little stuff. Alot of smugglers have been asking for this change for ages. 99% of the topics that hit this forum any more are just regurgitated topics because I guess they don't have the manpower or will to even answer our questions let alone implement anything besides nerfs.

I'm glad some still revive these old topics because most of us old timers here on the smuggler forums have run out of juice and are tired of beating our heads against a brick wall in the vain attempt of improving this profession.

Good luck getting an answer to this Caylin, and if you do it will probably be the typical party line respons. 'this is a great idea to discuss during the smuggler revamp (but until then go spam your slicing ads in the major cities and shut up!)'.

/salute

Not to mention the fact that half of all the armorsmiths and weaponsmiths in my galaxy have a master smuggler alt, and therefore, I'm hardly ever needed anymore....

Um yeah, and you have to like the crates of drugs on the open market.

I can just see tomorrow's classifieds or pennysaver adds:

Want to sell: 7 lbs of premium grade Marijuana. Accepting all serious offers. Free bong with purchase.

Said it before, I'll say it again...

Do not allow sliced weapons/armor on vendors. Slicing is a custom modification for a specific customer and should be one-on-one.

Make available a special vendor (to Smugglers or Merchants, I don't care which) that can be placed in Player City Cantinas only that can sell spice (and only spice). This is the guy at the bar asking "You wanna buy some Deathsticks?"

What about us crafting smugglers? I should be able to sellona vendor in my own shop. Maybe allow me to "bribe" the mayor of the city I sell in so no one notices what's going on. Protection money.

If I can't sell on a vendor, it will kill my buisness.

Ya great idea.

Enleu of actually having a way that a smuggler could earn creds by doing anything other than killing jantas and mokks, make it impossible for a smuggler to move his wares. That would be great, having to carry around 50 crates of spice and a dozen presliced weapons, sneaking up to people and saying

"Pssst buddy! Ya wanna buy some dope"

Or

"Psst, you aint the heat are ya? Ah can see it in yer eyes that your the type o fella who would benifit from one of my "modified" specials here.

Im sorry my smuggler brethren, but we got bigger issues than these. I see nothing wrong with having a vendor, and find it absurd that anyone would suggest otherwise. After all there is no RP in this game in any case that would support what you all are suggesting.
