Ah, yes.... the moments that make being a smuggler all worthwhile!

Unfortunately, such slices are not often appreciated. This happened to me about two nights ago:

I am at the bank in Coronet looking over the Bazaar when I get a tell from person X:

X: Can you slice some weapons for me?
Me: Sure, I am in bank at coronet.
X: I know .. I am right behind you.
I close the bazaar windows and turn around and there he is in all his newbness. Still had the new clothes on and everything. However, he obviouslyknows how to use tell, and that smugglers slice weapons. His tag is Novice Marksman. I click on him to trade and the window opens, so he knows about trading too, evidently. In the window he puts 4 fairly low-level pistols... I dont remember what they were... I remember a couple of them were DL-44s.

X: How much do you charge.
Me: Tonight I'm in a good mood... 100 credits per percent increase. (Figured I'd cut the newb some slack)
X: Okay.
Me: (Slice first weapon... something around 22% speed... I tell him.)
X: Okay.
Me: (Slice second weapon: 35% speed!) Wow! You just got the maximum speed slice... 35%!!
X: (silence)
Me: (Slice third weapon: 35% speed!... I just about fell out of my chair). Incredible.. another 35% speed slice.. I've never seen that before!!
X: (silence)
Me: (Slice fourth weapon) 25% damage on that fourth one.
X: Bah!...Finally. I wanted damage.

*Sigh*Another glorious moment in the history of slicing trickles away into the darkness...

Hah! WayneInAustin, he must have been somewhat of a noob, then. If he was just a Novice Marksman, little did he know he actually did want speed! More speed means more shots means more chances to actually hit something.

I have yet to break 30% on a weapon, but I have gotten a few +40% armor and one 45% bracer that weights virtually nothing.

I hate it when you don't really know what a client (heh) wants, and you end up getting a 30%+ on either damage or speed, and they still complain. I always say, even if it's not what you want, I could have done MUCH worst. It's always better to have 30%+ of what you don't want thannothing.

Well ladies and gents I had my first full session of slicing as a Master. My last slice though will stick with me for a while. A gent comes up to me from a well known Imperial PA, me myself bieng a covert Rebel, and asks what my prices are.

I state 5k per slice. He accepts and we trade. I see a strange icon in the trade window. Once I accept the trade I see it's a new DE-10 pistol with Krayt enhancements.

Well I open up the slice window and in Spatial tell him to start chanting "DAMAGE!", as that is what he told me he wanted. I tell him when I cut the first wire and then when I cut the second wire I closed my eyes.

When I opened them a few seconds later what did I see but : "You have increased the Damage range of this weapon by 35%" I was so happy I was prepared to give it to him for free. When I told him he started dancing, literally, and tipped me 100k for the slice.
