Thread: How and Why was panic shot nerfed again?

I heard that it delays them...but with the nerf, by the time you attack again, the delay is over...so it totally negates itself.

What's the real deal?

It's more of a get away shot. You shoot it, then peace, and...yeah. You're off.

It's just impossible to fire off a panic shot and then hit peace before you attack when you have a ping over 100ms.

If they just made it cancel attacks it would be useful again.

thats acutaly what it does ... it chancles the attack for max 10 seconds or until u hit him aggain.

its just as before. only worx a bit different.

/lowblow;

/lastditch;

/panicshot;

/lastditch;

/lastditch;

if u are fast enuff u can easily hit the mob 4.5 times until he stands up aggain.

Could write a macro to use instead of the normal panic shoot key

/panic shoot
/pause 1
/peace

except spelt properly

It doesn't work because the peace command is non queue specific and that's not how macros work.

In your example lets imagine you have 4 combat moves queued up.When you hit the macro you'll add the panicshot to your queue and because /peace overides all ( inlcuding the pause ) you'll cancel your entire queue and stop fighting until the next blow hits you.

/ui action toolbarSlot xx is queue specific which means that if you make a macro for /peace and shove it in the first slot and make a macro which says

/panic;

/pause 1;

/ui action toolbarSlot00

you'll fire that panic shot, wait 1 second and then fire off the peace command. Theoretically that's good until you counter in that if you've got 4 commands queued you'll add the panic shot to the end again, and peace after 1 second.

So you have to add the clear combat queue command which I can never remember....

Then you have to factor in a little bit of lag because many of us shoot panic shot at the 1 second cap.

/ui action clearcombatQueue ( ? )

/pause .5 ( to give the queue time to clear )

/panicShot

/pause .5

/ui action toolbarSlot00

and technically it should work.

But it doesnt. Half the time I either peace before the panic shot fires, meaning I resume attacking when panic shot goes off, or I peace after the panic shot goes off meaning my second attack lands.

Then just to screw it all further if the mob attacks quickly, I often find that I hit the target with panic, my peace works perfectly, I get hit by a shot from the mob which has taken 50 ms or so to register and I start attacking all over again.

In short...

it's buggered.

Thanks for the info RylanStorm, that got alot more complex then I though it would need to be. Back when I was still a smuggler after the changes to panic shot I really only used it if I was fighting more then one at a time.

Yeah...post got longer then I wanted it to be really. Shame since I eventually did it in two words.

All they need to do is make it a /panicShot peace combination and it would be brilliant for me.

/panic

/healdamage self

Bah missed this

/lowblow;
/lastditch;

/panicshot;

/lastditch;

/lastditch;

In that scenario you knock the mob down, last ditch him, panic shot him and then 1 second later when your first last ditch lands he'll be free to stand again.

When I said I wish it cancelled the attacks I meant if I used it, it cancelled mine. Meaning i stopped fighting instantly after I fired it.

In my opinion, panic shot is mostly a PvP move for use against large groups these days. The best use I have found is to target one player, panic the group, and give those that are getting double-teamed 10 secs of 1x1 combat.

It is difficult to use it effectively solo unless you are targeting a bike so you can panic the player while you take the 10 secs destroy his ride or something similar. I don't particularly like that approach myself. Against NPCs and mobs, it is still useful for pulling groups or grabbing 10 secs of 1x1 combat.

for teh panic LD combo
nope he wont stand up directly after the first last ditch behind Panic. it will take him 2-3 secs until they stand up.
if u lowblow a mob, he will lay down for a few seconds. if u now lowBlow and panic a mob. he will ate least stay down for 10 secs. if u now attack teh mob, the standup timer from the lowblow starts counting. depending on ur gun u can LD teh mob for a few times.

and for ur Panic and chancel attack attack ...
if this panic peace combo realy worx (never heared of it before), try this one.

/alias chancelattack /panicshot;/pause 1;/peace

just type /chancelattack to execute it (or macro it)

Not any more Nura. That was it's old effect since it stopped them fron standing because their next action was delayed by 10 seconds, meaning their stand command was delayed.

Now the panic is cancelled and they are free to stand up.

I've tried this dozens of times over the past fortnight and it has zero effect.

also as ive said

/panic

/pause 1

/peace

doesnt work because /peace overrides all commands.
