Thread: Anyone find this ironic?

"...Anyway, i'm rambling on, and I think you'll agree that information is better than no information...."
--Gil Burtin: Founder/President Freelance Pilots Guild--

In case you no one was paying attention, the new load-screen message from the recent patch describes all the changes to the Pilot professions, such as the additional droid commands and the repair change for Deep Space. I read that final statement, and damn near spit out my drink laughing though. How is it that the poor guy who writes the text copy understands this, but the professional community managers dont?

While information can be used to instill hope, encourage preparedness, and foster discussion, it can also be used to disappoint, discourage, insult, exploit, gripe, grief, and whine.

While some portions of the SWG gaming community may be able to handle what information is given them, and maturely handle items that are incomplete, undecided, and up for discussion, others will take this as an opportunity to lash out because of perceived flaws, unrelated injustices, and because their parents didn't give them enough attention in their formative years.

So, while I like Gil's statement, it is aimed at a different community and situation than the implications of the above post.

Just WHAT in the Hell are you trying to say? Ohhhh...I get it. Rhu here is trying to shoot over the head of Orcajum by attempting to use some perceived fancy wording. All this does is make him look like some sort of trolling pompus ass defending the Devs in what isa decidedly ill-treated profession. And you've been around a wee bit (I remember names) so you should have some respect and tact for any of your fellow Smugglers, if you can even be called that.

Rhu, get hop along to work, bud. What you're doing trolling the Smuggler forum to try and shoot over our heads, I don't know, but it's just uncalled for.

If this is your take on how to talk to and about another Smuggler, then you've decided picked the wrong profession and/or forum to lurk in. I do not appreciate you being a part of this profession, which is a very tightly knit group, and making cracks at another Smuggler's childhood or parents. That's simply uncalled for and you're wrong.

If you bother to read some stickies or ElectronicNomad's Smugglers in SWG History thread, and had an ounce of compassion for your fellow Smugglers and their situation, you would let this stuff go instead of making snide, uncalled for remarks.

Everyone is entitled to their voice and opinion, but if this is any indication of how you plan on voicing your opinions in this forum, you, Johnny, have backed the wrong horse.

What he said made sense, but there is no need to be rude to anyone in here.

You know something, Rhu is CORRECT. While I do disagree with his line about peoples parents (some humor doesn't translate well in a forum), the gist of his post is accurate. He also directed this to the SWG community,..he did not single out our profession.

I tend to agree, Datink.

Rho replied on the thread with his opinion, he didn't created a thread just to taunt us or something. And his opinion is right on the mark. I do not think he was attacking Smugglers , he was making a comment about the SWG community in general. I really do not think Rho is trolling, or attacking any Smuggler in particular nor the proffession in general.

So I think you are reading too much into this post, NickHeel . You are right about the Smugglers community being a tightknit one, I love it for that, so let's not jump at each other's throats for a difference of opinion.

As for being arogant for using too complicated words, well, English is a second language to me and I had no problem understanding his post, so......

I don't know. The first post was obviously about smugglers, so how are we supposed to take Rhu's? When I first read it, my take was it was a carefully worded insult. If not, I'll heartily apologize, but from the way it's written, I'm with Nick on this one.

I didn't detect any kind of direct insult implied within Rhy's post. Then again, i suppose if i didn't receive enough attention from my parents in my formative years, i'd probably be incapable of seeing the insult anyway, right?

My statement was simply meant to point out what i saw as an odd difference between the statements of a fictitious character SOE has created and SOE's own community relations strategy.

I will agree that there is a certain portion of the SWG population that will whine and complain if something they THINK they're going to get does not come to fruition. These are the same players who will find something to whine about regardless of what the Devs tell them anyway. On the other hand, I would trade 10 of those players for ONE Electronomad or Solo4114, players of intelligence and passion who may have remained in this game had their been a constant running dialogue between the people who design the game, and those who truely enjoy playing the game.

I would expect that everyone who has responded to this thread, and the vast majority in this profession forum, would rather hear information, a statement when some of that information would be changing, followed by a REASON that information changed, rather than the current wait-and-see situation we're all faced with.

Anyway, since I didn't expect this thread to spark even minor controversy among fellow smugglers, i'm 5-staring everyones' posts hoping to normalize everyone's ratings, and would hope others would follow suit. We, as smugglers, already have out backs against the wall it seems. No reason we should be putting vibroknives in eachothers' backs as well.

Thanks to those of you giving me the benefit of the doubt, here. I was actually thinking mostly of those annoying brat J3d1 (that was most of the inspiration for the bit about lashing out because of parental neglect), exploiters, and the like.

I have never taken any pleasure in putting people down, and generally feel a sense of disgust for those who do.

Finally, I'm sorry if I write like a bookish nerd, or if whatI write comes out a bit convoluted.I don't get out much.

I'llendeavor to sound nicer and more normal in the future.

I think ive been watching to much stargate sg1 lately, cause that last statement that RHU said kinda reminded me of TILK from that show. But anyways i saw the samething that ORCAJUM saw, and also found it haliarous. Oh well, personaly this is MY OPINION AND NO BODY ELSES:

the DEV's know were pissed, and many are to the point of quiting or limiting our playing time. Part of the problem is no matter they do, they cant fix the emotional scars that IGNORING thats right IGNORING a portion of the SWG population. what they do realize is that if they screw whatever they have planed up, it will be outright revolt. Mass spamming and hurtfullness will rain down in the game. think of what would happen if every smuggler decided to meet in one city, very simmilar to the wookie revolt of armor, it crashed the system.

now think of attempts of sabatage, every smuggler on every server placing 25 crates of mulon gold in the buzzar near the same time. if theres only 4 smugglers that 100 crates or one page, if there are 40 smugglers thats 1000 crates or 10 pages. timing is key that amount of the same type of item on the buzzar might not crash it but think of all the players trying to buy stuff of the crates page. clicking through 10 pages of mulon gold lol.

now think of spaming our plight to the general population, set up a recurring macro, and poof off and running

now think of what would happen if all three were done, posably nothing, but last time i checked they didnt want us gathering in cities with large npc populations. NOT THAT I WOULD CONDONE ANY OF THE ABOVE THINGS EVER!!! but they are just a few ideas to produce a program memory spike, and most cases spikes are bad.

now DEV's please take our wishes in to consideration cause well, i would hate to see those things happen.

I do apologize then, Rhu. From the context that, specifically, it's us smugglers who don't ever see any communication (along with our ranger and SL brethren), I thought you were trying to say it was all of us who didn't have the maturity to deal with the devs. I'm glad that's not the case, and I'll try to remember to give everyone here the benefit of the doubt from here on out.

i don't know man, look at the way it had the devs immediately start looking at things to do to fix the bounty hunters, and the implementation of wookie armor... If we continue to take our issues maturely, and letdowns with a grain of salt, the developers will continue to ignore us and put us off further and further. it is the whiney little brats that always get catered to in this game, and though i don't agree with the idea of the smuggler population attempting to meet in a highly populated city or outpost, and mass spamming which may have an end result of a server crash, i'm starting to seriously think we are running out of options. publish 11 was our revamp, we heard nothing, we got nothing. my patience is wearing thin on this issue and i am seriously considering the idea of organizing a mass rally of smugglers at the MO to really let the devs know that we need to be heard unlike the jedi/bounty hunters who have already had multiple revamps... (yes, bh has been worked over twice, i'm a former bh)...

if we don't hear anything in the next few weeks about our revamp, look for a post from me organizing an event. I'm tired of being the nice guy and waiting, it's getting to the point where we need to have our voices heard and act out accordingly. I know i'm going to get one-starred for this post, but i'm starting to think nothing less of a mass rally resulting in multiple server crashes... yes, multiple server crashes, not just one; is the only way we can have our voices heard... our patience and overall goodness has gotten us ignored and put on the last page of the dev's to-do list, i don't know, maybe i'm just stupid and immature, but really, we haven't heard anything in a long time, and we didn't get what we were promised, a promise that is broken, especially when it comes to the devs in this game, can only be responded to with a broken promise from us, otherwise we will constantly be held in the dark until maybe we decide we don't need a revamp.
