I give, to you, my Smuggler brethren, and to my non-Smuggler brethren, and to my Smuggler sisterern- you know what? Screw the fancy crap.
This is my favorite community in the SWG forums. Almost allof the time, you will find helpful, thought-out, well constructed posts that benefit the community as a whole. With the occasional "OMFG! LAST DITCH ROXXORZ TEH BIG ONE!!11!1!!!SHIFTONE!"
Seeing as the other Nic(k) has listed noteworthy Smugglers(and actually considered me one /boggle), I'll take time to reflect upon the community as a whole.
Through many many trials and tribulations, we have held strong to our goals, and our beliefs. We've been given shịt, and found ways to make it semi usefull. We've had our shịt taken from us andnerfed into chyme(partially digested food), and while complaining, have still found ways to once again, make that usefull.
We've been kicked in the collective groin, spit on, laughed at, made virtually useless, been passed over more times than I wish to count, nerfed to balance against novice starter professions, nerfed after two month warnings then told it was an accident, chewed up, spit out, and yet- we've persevered. Why? Are we masochists? Or is it because we see the truely awe-inspiring potential beyond the eighteen month tarnish that has befallen us?
Smugglers have been here and Smugglers have left. I won't begrudge those who have, but, those of you who have stayed, look at the dessert of broken glass you've drug yourself through, and then look at your goal. After so much punishment you've taken, and as much more as you know we'll have to, doesn't the Promised Land on the horizon look so much sweeter?
When we win, and we realize even a fourth of this profession's potential, you'll be there, you'll be able to say you were a Smuggler when the going got tough, and then, even tougher. We'll get to show those who have persecuted us, templated our skills, and abused them what real Smugglers can do. Leaving them to wonder when the hell that was added.
We will not drift into thesilence of the night. We will be heard, we will show them we are proud of ourselves as we are now, and what we could be. We will succeed.
That, my brothers and sisters, is my thousandth post.

Let's not forget sticking around out of spite! It's a big reason!
Great post, and a fine complement to the other like it. Always good to hear a rebel yell now and then to break up all the grousing and muttered jokes. (Which I love, too, but you know what I'm saying.)

and here i thought i was smuggler cuz it was fun
turns out, i'm doing it for all those future smugglers. i'm doing it for those intangibles that make us who we are. i'm doing it for the pride of having done it my way and never backing down. most importantly, i'm doing it for the credits.
*sniff*
beautiful Nicolas.
