Thunderheart, this one is aimed directly at you. Please tell the truth.
Slicing has always been pitched as a completely random proces. However, myself and a few other smugglers on Farstar are pretty certain that this is no longer the case!
Having been sad enough to admit that myself and a few others have counted our last 100 weapon slices, its pretty obvious that dmg slices are becoming rarer! We all got roughly 1/4 dmg slices! Do you have any idea how frustrating it is being a smuggler and not having any control over a process that we're supposed to be a MASTER at? Let alone how even more frustrating it is to get nothing but abuse of people when you spd slice their 3mill stun baton!!?!
I do contract work for a couple of WS and even they have noticed that dmg slices are becoming rarer! You really are destroying smuggler as a profession at the moment. All i hope is that the revamp is something special. I'm only holding out for that or i would have quit ages ago.
Be honest, have you stealth nerfed dmg slices?! Because it blatanty isnt as random as it once was. More importantly, are we likely to have control over slicing after revamp?!
I really hope you come up with some good answers as im becoming very disillusioned!

Nobody's ruining anything.
People have taken slicing for granted since day one. As smugglers, we have one of the most demanded and unique skills in the game, but people have been treating it like some kind of cheap commodity.
How do we know this?
1. From all the slicers charging 1K - 3K per slice, de-valuing our serevices
2.From all the rich people who slice runs of 25 - 50 units just so they can have that one uber slice
3.From the perception that anything less than 20% slice is totally horrible
4.From the entire population of SWG, who is unwilling to accept that slicing is random
5. From all the newbs who don't know what type of slice would best suit their own characters' skillsets
Now, if the devs have altered the code so that certain slice types happen more often than others, then fine.
I have no problem with it. People have been taking slicing for granted for some time now, and I think it's about time for everyone to change the mindset from one of ENTITLEMENT, to that of appreciation when you DO actually get a good slice.
Without the use of exploits, we cannot choose the outcome of a slice, everyone knows that going in. So just because you have a bad run, or dmg slices appear to be less frequent, ithas very littleimpact on the smuggler profession. Why, because people will STILL have their weapons and armor sliced with the hopes of making any improvement.
