Thread: Grinding spices
Okay, I have the XP needed for Slice IV (Haven't taken it since Slice IV is bugged) and now I'm ready to work on Spices. I'm not even at Spice I yet and wanted to know if anyone had any grinding tips to share?
Does grinding any spice give you the same XP? Shadowpaw gives 60XP per...should I stay with that the whole way through the tree or will grinding other spices off me more XP?
What I did was, I picked one spice from each level. So say, Shadowpaw for Spice I, Yakk for Spice 2...etc I choose based upon the resources I already had. I then made 1 spice, using the 5% practice bonus and noticed the skill increase. Then Idivided that out by how much exp I needed to get to the next level. Finally, I mulitpied the amount of resources per spice by the number I needed to make and went to the Bazzar and bought those amounts (be sure to give buffer yourself for about 10 failures or so). Rinse and repeat.
I think you have to make between 100-135 spices per level if you stay with a spice of that level. I grinded through spices in about 4 one hour sessions. You'll put down some money this way, unless you have a good store of metal, chemical, and organics.
Hope this helps.
eh? I remember shadowpaw giving 120... I think. Anyway, Shadowpaw is the answer until spice 3. Then you can either continue with shadowpaw (which I did because I had the materials) or hit Thrusterhead for more exp per creation.
I have done shadowpaw for a while and will continue to do so until I get all of the other xp for master smuggler. Using skill points to gain in spices is a waste. It is only a means to an end. Stack up your spice xp and then make sure that you gte everything else in order before shifting skill points.
At least this will be my opinion until the devs do something to make spices worth it. For now, I wouldn't even use any of them. I can get food and drink from a chef - great effects, no downer. I can now even get health enhancements from a good doctor - again, no downer. I can understand that spices may need a little penalty, being a drug and all, but the better the spice, the less penalty should be assigned - and master's should be able to make "clean" drugs.
with 3 crafting stations you can grind the whole tree out on shadow paw in about 4-5 mind numbing hours
That last post shows just how absolutely worthless spices are right now.
Does the moderator for this section read the threads here? I scanned through a few and have not seen any responses from this Xahn fellow. I have been pleasantly surprised to find other sections have mods that check up on the posts, but I wonder if this is happening here or not.
We don't gripe very loudly, so we don't get much dev attention. Poor SanTsu's been sitting on an empty mailbox for a month now. So we spend all our time watching the screaming commandos ![]()
The way I went was shadowpaw until Spices III, then Thruster Head till IV. It's fairly cost effective if you can get the organics for the first 3 boxes. If you're in a PA, talk to your BH's or CH's or even Bio Engies. In any case, it's by far the easiest to get. It's 25 orgo, 5 metal.
Don't forget to click the PRACTICE box. Gives an extra 5% XP on top of the 120 you get per Shadowpaw. It doesn't actually give you the spice, though, which saves those ten minute destroying from inventory sessions.
Thruster Head is also cost effective at 170xp per. 15 gas, 15 chem, 5 meat for this one. The rough numbers are like 300 or so of shadowpaw, then 110 of thruster head. Don't quote me; im a spicer not an engineer.
It's too bad that people seem to have to gripe loudly, or even rudely, to get attention.
At that point, the devs just disregard the posts anyway because they are inappropriated stated. So we get caught in the classic damned if ya do, damned if ya don't loop.
Post nicely... get blown off.
Post rudely... get blown off.
It's really too bad. I have never gone the rude route yet, as I still retain some shred of hope that the moderators will wake up one morning and say, " holy cow.... I could actually be helping someone right now."
